You can teach a man to fish, but it won't taste like the Fish House

  • Food & Booze
You probably post foodie snaps on Instagram every week. You probably think you’ve explored every nook and cranny of Brisbane’s food scene. You probably know all the best menus back to front – but not as well as their ensuing food coma. Sorry in advance, but we’re about to rock the boat. It’s time to forget everything you thought you knew (and every ‘best meal ever’ you’ve ever raved about) and take the next possible oppor-tuna-ty to The Fish House on the Gold Coast. Set right on the beach at Burleigh Heads, this two-hatted seafood spot will send you reeling before you’ve stepped in the door (or glanced at the menu – and that’s a biggie for us). With fresh seafood flown in daily and 260 handpicked wines on the shelf (that’s right, sceptical uni lecturer, dreams do come true), it’s no wonder this celebrated haunt recently won the belt for Number 1 Fine Dining Restaurant on the Gold Coast. And after unveiling a brand new menu, just go ahead and call us bait – we’re there. Not hooked on world class seafood and beachfront views? How ‘bout dining with the stars? At The Fish House, casting a line in any direction might lead you face-to-face with some of the world’s hottest names. We don’t know about you, but we’ve always dreamed of making eyes over dinner with Orlando Bloom. Better make a booking and skip lunch – it’s time to play koi with Hugh Jackman. You can find The Fish House at 50 Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads – and buoy oh buoy, you’re in for a treat. Words by Samantha Chariton
