World Gin Day

  • Food & Booze
Ah, gin. It’s been dubbed liquid sanity, ‘adult vodka’ and the choice drink of psychopaths everywhere (we staunchly disagree with those claims, if it were true we’d have a whole office of Patrick Bateman’s). Whether you drink it with tonic, as a cocktail base or as a (relatively) smooth shot, there’s no wrong way to consume gin. It is so beloved in fact, that we have an entire day dedicated to it. That’s right, June 10 is World Gin Day and Dutch Courage is here to help us celebrate this delectable elixir in style. Kicking off at 11:30am the day will feature five masterclasses, live entertainment, pop-up stations, gin specials and massive giveaways (the promise of a whole bottle of gin every hour is more than enough to whet our appetites). And if that isn’t enough experts from Martin Millers, Fever Tree, Botanist, Gin Mare, Jinzu, Tanqueray, Kangaroo Island Spirits, and even Brisbane’s very own Humpybong Distillery will be around to give us some inside tips on how to get tipsy. Tickets are $55 for a pass to all sessions, $40 for the last three sessions, or for $75 you can opt to visit the last three sessions and enjoy a tasty five course Moroccan banquet. I think we know which one we’ll be booking. Tickets sold out within two days last year, so make sure to secure your spot. Let the celebrations be-gin! Words by Georgia Casey
