Are you crushing on candy more than your actual date? Have you been daydreaming about special menus more than secret admirers? If you’re like us, your one true love is rolling out on a cheese platter this Valentine’s Day, and the only thing sweeping you off your feet is that extra serve of dessert. Gather ‘round the fire, foodies – it’s time to toast some marshmallows and exchange the tastiest gossip in town! With the G&G, you’ll stay up-to-date on the newest spots, hottest outings, and sweetest ways to spend date night.
EATING OUT
You’re barking up the right tree. Scotland’s famous boozehounds, BrewDog, are opening their very first spot outside the UK and USA! Yep – you guessed it – it’s right here in town. We can’t promise you won’t feel ruff in the morning, but it sounds like a dog-garn good time. Every Brisbane foodie worth their salt, pepper, or mixed spice knows the name ‘Gambaro’ – but come July, a new name will be passing around town. The Gambaro Group are launching Persone, a new slice of Italian flavour in the CBD. Yeah, we’ll want a pizza that. Yes way, rosé. The foodie wizards behind South Brisbane’s Hello Please and Ol’ School are opening a third venue later this year, and we’re ready to wine about it! Maris Cook is preparing the launch of Maeva, a Euro-style wine bar and eatery on the corner of Melbourne and Grey Street. Get ready to reach for The Star. This March, the famous GC casino will unveil a schmick new restaurant and bar over Broadbeach hotel, The Darling. Complete with an infinity pool overlooking the Gold Coast skyline, this luxury location is taking dining to new heights – literally. We’re clawing at the chance to dine at Louisiana Redclaw! Opening doors soon in the Valley, the spot specialises in waves of southern-style crawfish, sides, and fried seafood.
EVENTS
Champagne is the drink of celebration, and there’s nothing we love celebrating more than everything cheese (seriously, check our savings account). Portside Wharf have put two and two (and two more) together, hosting their very own champagne and cheese pop-up on March 10! We’ll toast to that. Park yourself at the Treasury this Friday 23 February, where they’re hosting the very first Cocktails and Canapés in the Park! Marquees and margaritas? Sign. Us. Up. Held in the open air setting from 6pm – 9pm, you’ll enjoy delights from the night’s international grazing stations, tipples from twelve cocktail bars, and plenty of fun, fashion, and dancing. Get in quick! Tickets are just $69pp. Why did the chicken cross the road? Probably to hear some original jokes, we’re guessing. Lucky for us, The Flying Cock is bringing an all-new comedy night to Brisbane’s doorstep! Join in on the fun at You’re Joking on Thursday 22 February, with plenty of laughs, loud jokes, and legendary beers. It’s $5 on the door, so head in before the crowd! Oui oui! The annual Alliance Française French Film Festival is back from March 8 to April 4. You’re in for 47 features, 2 documentaries, and a partridge in a pear tree. But seriously, brace yourselves for bulk popcorn and a poppin’ display of Parisian cinema. Got something delicious to share?
