This week is so damn tasty.

Hungry? Here’s some news about Brisbane’s food scene to wrap your lips around…

Mark Saturday, April 4 in your calendars, because Welcome to Bowen Hills’ popular Brisbane Gin Festival is back for another year, showcasing over 60 different gins from around the world, including big-name brands like Adelaide Hills, Four Pillars, Brookie’s, Gordon’s and Tanqueray. Boasting stalls, tastings, cocktails, and, of course, plenty of G and Ts, this festival has our name written all over it!

We’re waking up easy now that Howard Smith Wharves’ hotspot Ciao Papi is serving up breaky! Continuing the theme of fresh, flavourful Italian fare of the riverside venue, the new offerings include  a mortadella, smoked mozzarella and fried-egg roll with tomato relish, coconut-milk risotto with Brookfarm granola and seasonal fruit, and, the classic avo on sourdough with tomatoes, radish and basil.

Trust us when we tell you this is one is also worth setting an alarm for. Banjo’s Bakery Café has made the trek all the way from Tassie to Brisbane’s west to open a store in Darra, set to be its first full-service café bakery drive-thru! To mark the monumental occasion, Banjo’s is giving out 1000 free sausage rolls with every purchase, from 4am on Wednesday, March 25. Don’t snooze on this snag, Brisbane.

We love Milky Lane. We also love Sailor Jerry spiced rum. You can imagine our excitement when we heard these two icons were collaborating, to bring us a limited-edition menu of sticky, saucey, rummy delights. To mark the launch of the brand new Sailor Jerry Savage Apple, you can enjoy the spirit in cocktail form, with coconut, yuzu and salted caramel, in wing form, with rum and gochujang chili glazed chicken wings, or in burger form, with a pork rib patty glazed with rum and hickory BBQ sauce. We’ll take all three, and the inevitable food baby.

Okay, enough talk of sticky wings and burgs – we also have some exciting news for the plant-based foodies out there! The team behind beloved plant-based Mexican pop-up El Planta have announced the opening their first bricks-and-mortar eatery in South Brisbane, coming this April! Dive into a selection of share-style mains, alongside their famous meatless tacos and a delectable selection of sides and desserts, washed down with Mexican beers, vegan-friendly wines and cocktails. Stay tuned for more info.

This weekend, though, is all about the brews for us, as Brewsvegas kicks off at venues across Brisbane! We’re beyond excited for 10 days of beer-based celebrations, which will see over 100 events at 60 sipping spots, as well as the countless opportunities to stuff our faces. The Brewsvegas launch event is taking over the Valley’s freshly opened Stone & Wood brewery, to get the yeasty party started!

In between cold ones, why not dig into the oozey goodness of Portside’s Cheese Week? From Friday, March 13, you can expect seven days of cheesey specials at a range of Portside venues – with cheesecake, cheesy gnocchi, cheesy naans, and vegan cashew cheese. It’s a big, cheesy yes from us.

From breaky to dinner (and the six meals in between), this week is dishing up nothing but the best.
