Brisbane, it’s time to let your hair out and eat like there’s no tomorrow with this week’s foodie news!


A cool new player in Brisbane’s late-night dining scene is hitting the town this week, serving up Asian-inspired snacks, a hip cocktail list and a whole ‘lotta fun. Ling Ling is opening its doors on Thursday February 13, taking over HEYA Bar’s previous location and finally filling the void it left behind. The underground venue will be turned into a paradise for late-night goers, with the space boasting arcade games, pinball, a pool table and even a cheeky karaoke spot. With the kitchen open until 1am, you’ll be arriving early and staying late while you chew on some duck san choy baos and sip on signature cocktails such as Go Ling Ling, It’s Ya Birthday. Gather the gang and start planning your next night out! 

Also set to shake things up in Fortitude Valley this week is The Sound Garden! The new neighbour of The Fortitude Valley Music Hall, this huge multi-level venue is set to make a big entrance, serving up lunch and dinner on the daily. The industrial-luxe space will offer relaxed eats, with head chef Craig Watson putting a strong emphasis on anything wood-fired, such as wood-fired beef in betel leaves and lemongrass pork skewers. Pub favourites will also make their appearance and please the crowd, along with classic brews and signature cocktails to quench the thirst. Live music will also be at the forefront, with live gigs every night of the week! 

Forget the romantic dinner date you’ve planned this Valentine’s Day, because Cinnabon’s new location opening is set to steal your heart instead! These world-famous cinnamon rolls are set to bless southsiders by spreading their beautiful scent across Westfield Garden City on Friday February 14. Similar to its Nundah brother, Cinnabon Garden City will be serving the brand’s most delicious treats, including classic cinnamon rolls, Chocobons and caramel Pecanbons, alongside specialty coffee and the signature Cinnamon Roll Chillatas. We’ll see you at the opening! 

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as biting down on some perfectly cooked and decadent lobster, and SK Steak & Oyster is making those dreams happen. In order to support the lobster industry that is going through a rough time at the moment, the restaurant is hosting a week-long lobster celebration, with their menu being an ode to these delicious crustaceans. For only $85, guests are delighted with a five-course menu including lobster tartare with organic soy sauce, yuzu and jalapeno, lobster risotto and butter-baked lobster served with lobster mash and lobster salad. And just when you thought that your favourite brunch spot couldn’t get any better, Coffee & Comedy topped it all off! With the Brisbane Comedy Festival soon to hit Brissie, the world’s best comedians will be popping up around town at some of the most loved cafes such as Aquila Caffe Bar, Strauss and Bean to make you LOL hard. Sip on those beautifully roasted coffee beans and try not to let it go down the wrong pipe while you have a few chuckles. With the first 100 visitors receiving a free cuppa, this is set to be Brisbane’s best caffeinated Happy Hour.
