October, you’ve been pretty bloody great and you just keep getting better.

We’ve got some boiling hot tea on what’s coming up this week, and we’re ready to spill.

EATS

There’s a new burger joint hitting Fish Lane that is worth bending over backwards for. Bender’s is set to open late next week and we encourage you to prepare your body, mind and soul. Billykart owners Ben Roberts and Ben O’Donoghue are bringing their delicious offerings across the road, developing a fresh and chilled-out space devoted to burgers and snacks, and we’re so ready to dive in (mouth first).

What’s that we hear? Bottomless Southern fried chicken at the Salisbury Hotel? That’s a big yee haw from us. This treat is waiting for you from 6pm-8pm every Thursday night, and it will only set you back a fat twenty. Dig in to bottomless fried chicken, mashed potato, slaw and gravy. Obviously this is going to be hella popular, so bookings are essential.

Surf’s up! Popular Coolangatta café-slash-surf-shop Boardriders is shakka-ing things up, partnering with the beloved 4 Pines Brewing Company to expand their brew-related offerings and fare. Set to refresh and refine their breakfast and lunch menus and add a brand-new dinner trade, Boardriders will also be decked out with a new bar set-up and cocktail list. Get ready for a new GC foodie hotspot!

Spring Hill’s unique and exclusive degustation experience, Restaurant Indriya, has had a refresh. The chef’s table experience, designed for 10 to 12 guests, now offers a decadent nine-course feast, with the option of wine pairing, or a delightful in-house tea pairing. (See, we said we’d have tea for you).

The dear people at Deer Duck Bistro have dropped a brand-new cocktail menu, and it’s straight fire. The spicy guava margarita has our name written all over it, and the delicious non-alcoholic offerings will keep your designated driver very happy. Don’t stress, the Deer Duck favourites are still on the list, featuring your fav spirit mixed with tonic water, sugar syrup and your choice of fresh blackberries and thyme, cucumber, basil and lime, or raspberries and lime. All three, please.

EVENTS

Gin lovers, this one’s for you. On Monday, October 28, iconic eatery Donna Chang is set to partner with Four Pillars, The Kyoto Distillery and Herno gin distilleries to deliver a modern Chinese banquet with a matching gin and cocktail selection. The Gin Roadshow will showcase this match made in heaven and will involve lots of delicious eats prepared by Donna Chang’s head chef Jason Margaritis and lots and lots of delicious gin.

We have good news and bad news. The bad news is that the TBC Club and The Flying Cock are set to close at the end of 2019. Cry. The good news, however, is that they’re going out with an absolute bang. Til’ Death Do Us Party is essentially 10 weeks of straight partying and there are loads of exciting events happening, including Flying Cock Fridays, Levelled Saturdays, and many more.
