Word on the street: foodie news
Hi hayfever, how ya doin’?
A new season means new eats! And boy oh boy, spring is shaping up very nicely indeed (much nicer than our summer bods anyway…priorities, ya know?).
With fresh brews, new eateries and spring-style events on offer, your social calendar is set to bloom.
Proving the weather isn’t the only thing heating up, Brisbane is set to sizzle this November as Beaux Rumble glides into Fortitude Valley’s dreamy Ada Lane. And we mean seriously sizzle – the Grand Central Station-inspired design features a huuuge custom grill and woodfire oven, adding deliciously smoky tones to the predominately plant-based and seafood menu. With internationally acclaimed Michelin-starred chef Alan Wise at the helm, his penchant for flames and flair for innovative flavours is guaranteed to take diners on a ‘taste adventure’. Set to open from early mornings to late evenings, step into the spacious ground floor for a boozy brunch, or wander upstairs for cool cocktails on The Terrace.
It’s not just Lizzie McGuire getting a revamp this year – the beloved Port Office Hotel has recently risen from the flames that tore them down in January, humming a new tune as owners Nick and Meagan Gregorski launch the next chapter in her 155-year-old history. Proving some things never go out of style, The Port Office Hotel is back to its historic best, boasting a glorious Queensland plantation-style setting, perfect for balmy Brisbane evenings. Now open for lunch and dinner every day, step in to taste a modern take on Australian gastro-pub with an ever-so-subtle European and Scottish flair.
You’ll be feeling extra hoppy this month as Fritzenberger debuts their brand-spanking-new brew: the Lithuanian Keptinis. Translation? All you need to know is this new fella boasts a distinctive toasty toffee-like flavour, perfect for those who love beer and those who think they don’t (spoiler: this sweet golden drop might just change your mind!). Taste it on tap from next Wednesday at the Petrie Terrace location, and then from Friday 13th at all three Fritzenberger venues. Pair it with some of their iconic frites and you’ve got yourself a bloody good time. For the love of beer, don’t miss out!
This is not a drill – spring sips are officially a-go, Brisbane! And really, what better place for riverside dining than Eagle Street Pier? Kicking off on September 12 and running until early October, fall in love with The Pier’s spring fling as the precinct is transformed into a colourful, interactive setting, complete with automated games and Instagram pop-ups (perfect for that #goldenhour selfie). With incredible live entertainment and giveaways on offer, clear your schedules every Thursday-Saturday this month to celebrate spring at Eagle Street!
Next up, make sure you stop to smell the rosé this month as Customs House kicks off spring in true style by spoiling guests with yet another bloomin’ good seasonal pop-up – the Moët Rose Garden! Set to fulfil all your dreamy garden party fantasies, sit back and relax on crisp white furniture, plush cushions, and of course, plenty of fresh blooms. Kicking off on Thursday, September 26 with riverside views and a fresh menu to match, there’s been no better time to be tippled pink this spring.
Florals for spring? Pass. We’ll be eating up a storm this month instead.
