Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimised by the serving-size suggestions on your favourite snacks.

For all those out there opting to eat half a block of chocolate rather than one measly row, let us give you the lowdown on some tasty treats on the horizon that will allow you to indulge to your heart’s content. 


Say hello to the newest dream team of the Brisbane foodie scene, as the set designer from the original Mad Max movie teams up with Amelia and Daniel Miletic of One Fish Two Fish, and restaurateurs of Corella and La Lune Wine Co, Paul McGivern and Bailee Dewes. The result? West Village’s newest pop-up bar project, Fredericks! Named after Frederick Peters, who founded Peters Ice Cream on the site in the 1920s, Fredericks is set to offer fine wines, expertly crafted cocktails and beer, and tasty charcuterie boards.

With design details and drink offerings still tightly under wraps (but with a group this iconic at the helm, you know it’s gotta be good) the venue is set to swing open its doors in September. 

Next up on this week’s instalment of “holy moly, Brisbane’s foodie game is upping the ante” you’ll want to be in the fast lane as Sydney’s uber-popular and uber-tasty Milky Lane rollerskates into Newstead’s Gasworks precinct on September 11. Rumour has it their famous foodie offerings will be packing their bags and making the trip north, so prepare to meet the extravagant Kevin Bacon, Lil Weezy and Chic-Kanye creations, to name a few. Their decadent milkshake-style cocktails will also be bringing all the Brisbane boys (and girls) to the yard, such as their Reese’s peanut butter martini and salted caramel espresso martini. 

Holy crepe! Elizabeth Street’s Asian foodie precinct, FudoDori, will be getting a little bit sweeter as they welcome dessert station Amai Kawaii this Thursday. Specialising in loaded crepes, a range of colourful shaved-ice desserts, and towering parfaits to rival the Eiffel Tower (fo’ real), there’s been no better time to embrace the last of your #winterbod before spring kicks off. 

Still mourning the departure of Aria from Eagle Street Pier? Dry those eyes! The former fine-dining location is set to be transformed into a lavish, bright Latin/Spanish playground with the opening of Rico. This indoor-outdoor eatery will blend local Australian flavours with the flair of Southern American and Spanish fare. Bring friends willing to share, and enjoy the delicate tapas menu and extravagant banquets. With happy hour kicking off at 3pm to 5pm every day, we’ll be sure to provide you with all the extra juicy deets when Rico makes his formal entry.  


Calling all gin junkies! Swap the gym pass for a gin class as Four Pillars Gin takes over The Boom Boom Room this Friday night! 

If you like your gin served with a dash of flair, step in to taste the exclusive gin cocktail menu, curated by Four Pillars Creative Director and acclaimed bartender James Irvine, and the venue’s very own Joseph Chisholm.
