It’s official: love is in the air this week (and not just because The Bachelor is starting up).

With more new restaurant openings than you can poke a red rose at, you’ll be head over heels with free ramen, rooftop bars, and new Valley eateries. 

EATS 

We introduced you to three quirky syllables earlier this year, and expect to be rolling them off your tongue as Za Za Ta officially (and finally!) opens later this week. Middle Eastern-inspired flavours will be broken into a huuuuge menu of raw and cured bites, nibbles, snacks, small plates, large plates, veggies, and desserts. With six unique spaces for guests to dine and a killer line-up of cocktails on offer (vegan kumquat fizz with orange blossom gin, anyone?), we anticipate this to be one dining experience you’ll be eager to repeat. 

Joining the food-opening frenzy is a new Valley watering hole, located in the heart of our beloved Woolly Mammoth. Aptly dubbed Ivory Tusk, expect to be caught in its stampede from August 22 as a colourful variety of cocktails and Mexican-inspired bites move into the venue, complete with pastel pink decor and “Tropicali” styling. 

FREE RAMEN. Great, we have your attention. Don’t walk, ramen into Racecourse Village on Saturday, August 10 as Ramen Ikka delivers oodles of noodles and bucketloads of flavour. To celebrate its grand opening, guests can expect free ramen from August 10-13, with 100 free bowls of tonkatsu ramen on offer from 11:30 am each day!

Buckle up and prepare the spaceship: you’ll be going to infinity and beyond as a popular Noosa eatery lands in Burleigh late September. It will be one small step for you, one giant leap for your tastebuds as Light Years delivers incredible modern Asian flavours in a bright, relaxed setting. Lifting off under the wing of creators Kim Stephen and Stephen Filipovic, expect to rock(et) and roll with mouthwatering bites including bao buns, dumplings, crispy pork belly, and kingfish ceviche.

Proving the sky is the limit in Brisbane this week, you’ll be on cloud nine (literally) as the roof-top bar Altitude at Foresters swings open its doors this Friday. Boasting glittery views of the Valley all the way to the Story Bridge, expect to see a combination of craft-style brews and innovative boozy classics lining the menu. No need to pack a snack thoughshare-style foodie options will keep your hunger at bay, such as cheese platters, chicken-stuffed croquettes, and stone-baked pizza. 

Baby, it’s cold outside, and it only seems to be getting colder. Lucky for us, Riverbar and Kitchen will continue to turn up the heat this August as their Ekka-inspired menu kicks off. No need to brave the crowds to enjoy your favourite Ekka treatsyou’ll be feeling all the warm fuzzies with decadent strawberry margaritas, hot buttered rum and baked camembert. With only one more month left to show off your killer winter boots, there’s no better excuse to round up the #squad.

No need to go gnocchi-ing to Paddington to get your favourite gnocchi fix—Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers is set to open up a brand spanking new permanent location in South Bank in late September, boasting the same soul-warming pillowy piles of potato that have captured our hearts (and expanded our waistlines) since 2016. 

EVENTS 

On Wednesdays, we drink pink in the name of charity. 

Join Vapiano for a celebration of carbs and cocktails every Wednesday night with $5 pink gin spritzes on offer with any main meal purchased. The best bit? All proceeds will go directly to Share the Dignity to help raise funds for Australian women affected by homelessness, poverty, and domestic violence. Pinkity drinkity, sign me up.
