Word on the street: foodie news
If you are what you eat then we’re one big ol’ snack.
Last week’s round-up might have given you enough to drool over, but can you ever have enough good foodie news in your life? That’s what we thought.
Fryday, February 15 will see One Fish Two Fish steal the foodie spotlight. Kangaroo Point’s latest and greatest seafood restaurant (set in a stunning micro-Queenslander) will be a healthy balance of lavish and chilled eats and sips, offering the likes of whole salt-baked fish, rainbow cajun fish taco nachos and plenty of vino, beer and cocktails on tap (hello there) to wash it all down with! Swim this way for all the finer details.
Hello dukkah my old friend. West End recently gained a dedicated vegan tapas bar dubbed You Came Again! Rest assured you’ll be back for pesto stuffed mushrooms, lemon popcorn cauliflower bites with Sriracha aioli, and lemon meringue – and yes, it’s all purely plant-based. We’ll drink to that.
Fresh as a daisy. With Ben Devlin out, Jason Barratt is in as Paper Daisy’s new Executive Chef. Having worked at Attica, Stokehouse, Hector’s Deli and Raes at Wategos, Barratt has a lot of delicious tricks up his sleeve to take Halcyon House’s signature restaurant to new heights.
It’s hard to be salty after free coffee. Salt coffeehouse and roastery opened in Newstead today (that’s February 12 for all future readers, welcome), offering free coffee all day! Drop everything and go! Be sure to head back for kombucha on tap and freshly brewed beans from the mother plant.
The view looks pretty good from up here. Upstairs is set to be Toombul Shopping Centre’s new dining and entertainment experience boasting up to 10 new eateries, an entertainment and lifestyle offering and a fully refurbished art-house cinema. We’re promised Insta-worthy angles everywhere you look, so get your phones ready and stay tuned for a finishing date!
Finding Dory was easy – she’s headed for Brisbane’s CBD. FudoDori will create a unique Japanese foodie precinct with 10 offerings from a feast of restaurants and bars. With the first of 10 to open next month and others soon to follow, you’ll be blogging matcha desserts and knocking back Japanese hot dogs in no time.
Corona + tacos + Brown Snake = the ultimate combo. Corona Sunset Sessions are coming to Riverbar & Kitchen from February 24 to March 31, giving you the chance to stretch out summer a little longer with buckets of Corona and tacos packed with pulled pork, fried chicken and fish. Get summer that.
