Having a bauble with all the festivities hitting Brisbane? Feast your heart out, North Pole: our city’s slaying all year ‘round. Gather under the mistletoe for your first gift this silly season: the word on Brisbane’s newest flavours, set to hit town with a ho-ho-holy damn that’s good.
Pier pressure never looked better. Next year, we’ll be waving hello to Brisbane’s newest foodie precinct, set underneath the iconic Storey Bridge. Howard Smith Wharves will host everything from feasts to five-star sleepovers, with an Art Series Hotel launching around eight restaurants, a craft brewery, coffee roastery, and an octagon-shaped bar over the water. Nope, this isn’t a Rick Roll – the delicious100 reigning king is opening a younger sibling in our very own backyard! Rick Shores 2.0 will launch in March, plating up Cantonese-inspired flavours in Fortitude Valley. We’re yet to hear whispers of a name, but stay tuned. Have you heard the Newstead? A new Brisbane brewery is set to roll out next year, with plans for Range Brewing to make an autumn launch. Built on sustainable brewing processes and housemade pizzas served on the side, you’ll want to keep this one in close range.  If you’re guilty of a good ol’ Sunday sesh, you’ve heard of the Jube. The Valley’s pub icon is set for a massive makeover come 2018, with a new laneway and tropical beer garden set to revamp those weekend recovery sessions. Well, how bao that? After the successful openings of Poké Poké, Bonita Bonita, and Bon Bon, restauranteur Morgan Walsh will draw back the curtain on FuFu, an American-style Chinese venue set on the GC. Focused on affordable (but feast-worthy) helpings of sweet and sour pork, Moreton Bay bug bao, and cheeseburger spring rolls, this spot will have you wonton more. New York, New York! A slice of the Big Apple is about to touch down on Nobby Beach, with Pinky’s turning things red, white and blue. Pinky’s NYC-inspired diner will be a contemporary take on those classic ‘50s diners we so love, with menus repping deli-style sandwiches, fresh bagels, and diner breakfasts. The better news? It’s set to open next month! Plant yourself firmly in Burleigh this month: Broadbeach’s famous Feed the Earthlings is about to touch down! The vegan burger and pizza spot is expanding to Treetops Plaza in Burleigh Waters, with plans to open doors before Christmas. Can we Barrio a minute of your time? If you ask us, you’re way, way overdue for a Byron trip. Hit the road for a taste of Barrio Eatery and Bar, the newest spot on the beach once it launches this month. Named after the Spanish word for ‘neighbourhood,’ Barrio will focus on communal, casual dining for brekky, lunch and dinner – from toasties and salads to cold-pressed juices.
This month’s just choc full of good news! On Monday 18 December, we’ll BASIKally lose our minds as the dessert masters at BASIK Chocolates host a Secrets by BASIK event at Electric Avenue. Held in the Jack Rabbits whisky bar, the team will craft a Christmas-inspired experience of dining, drinking, and good cheer.
