Heads up, foodies: we’re already waving goodbye to the first month of the year, and if you’re anything like us, you’re nowhere near those 2018 #foodgoals. Whether those New Year’s resolutions set you on the path of conquering Brisbane’s biggest burger, dirtiest fries, or cheesiest pasta (follow your dreams), consider the G&G your official wingman*. Stay up-to-date with the word on the street – and more importantly, word on the eats – with the G&G, where ‘burning calories’ just means leaving the cake in the oven a smidge too long. *Wings not included, but we’ve got ideas.
EATING OUT
Here’s a rare sight: a new CBD steakhouse is set to hit Brisbane! The team behind The Gresham are commandeering the former home of Restaurant Two in the launch of Walter’s Steakhouse. Rumour has it that they’re beefing it up with a new-to-Brisbane prep technique, so stay tuned. Welcome to our daydream. Permanent food truck hub, Welcome to Bowen Hills, will throw open doors next month – and we can’t stopped drooling. Set in the Brisbane Showgrounds, the space comes from Melbourne’s 100 Burgers. At the first roll call, you’ll spot Brisbane fave King of the Wings. We can’t put a Pinn in this one! After launching Drum, Nick Pinn’s already setting his sights on spicing up the GC. Working with Michelin-starred chef Majunath Mural, Pinn’s setting up for a modern Indian spot right on Main Beach. It’s ‘so long’ to Long Apron chef Shayne Mansfield in Toowoomba, with the TV star jetsetting to the Sunshine Coast. He’ll be taking over the former Daisy’s Café in the opening of a new, produce-focused spot. Ed, Edd ‘n’ Café! CBD caffeine fiends are about to welcome another haunt, with Ed Café prepping to open in early February.
EVENTS & HAPPENINGS
To market, to market! Brisbane’s favourite foodie event is back for 2018, with the stalls of Regional Flavours set to dot South Bank later this year. The organisers are currently on the lookout for foodie innovators, so give your pals a shout-out! Applications can be submitted until March 2. Got something delicious to share?
