Where to spend Australia Day in Brisbane

Whether you prefer to celebrate this country by cheering on your prize cockroach as it scurries towards the finish line or by throwing yourself down a slip ‘n’ slide with a snag in one hand and a stubby in the other, Australia Day Brisbane style is an occasion that is best spent with koala-ty company. Sure, bush doofs might be an emu-sing way to spend the day, but chances are you’re gonna have to chuck a sickie on Friday ‘cause you’ve ended up in the middle of woop woop. So if you’ve spit the dummy ‘cause you’ve been bowled out by some dingus in backyard cricket, forget about putting snags in bread and drowning them in tomato sauce! We’ve mustered up a ripper collection of Australia Day events Brisbane wide where you can eat, drink and have a fair-dinkum day with your mates.

Test your skills in a surfing comp with a twist as The Breakfast Creek Hotel transforms their iconic venue for the ultimate summer bash! There’ll be a free mechanical surfboard on the lawn to imitate those iconic waves and test your skills once and for all, plus raffles with loads of giveaway goodies from midday. Of course, there’ll also be plenty of Australian-inspired tucker, including the Rib Tickler, a rib fillet steak topped with BCH smoked lamb ribs, and an exclusive Aussie-inspired rum cocktail.
Pig ‘N’ Whistle | West End
What’s more Australian than the cricket, BBQ burgers, cold beer and the Triple J Hottest 100 playing throughout the day? Head to Pig ‘N’ Whistle West End for all of the above, with Australia v Pakistan on the big screens, raffles and giveaways, and plenty of specials to keep you partying from 11am until well into the night, with Australia Day inspired burgers like a lamb burger with bacon and egg and cheese and a fried chicken burger with pineapple, hot sauce and bacon on the menu!

Grab a bucket of 4 XXXX Summer Brights to share with your crew and you’ll even get a free hat!
