Where to get your foodie fix at Brewsvegas 2020
Aren’t carbs just the best?
It’s time we all agree that beer is so much more than just that over-priced thing at the footy. Brissy’s craft beer scene has never been better and we can’t wait to celebrate at the seventh annual Brewsvegas Festival!
Kicking off on Saturday, March 12 and stretching out across 10 days, the festival will feature over 100 events at 60 of Brisbane’s best sipping spots. In pursuit of hoppiness, we’ve scoured the program to find the very best food and brew pairing events – you’re so welcome.
It’s the most important meal of the day, right? Start your Brewsvegas adventure on Saturday, March 14 with a wholesome, beer-fuelled breakfast with fruity sours and wild ales courtesy of Melbourne’s Boatrocker Brewing. Pastries and other brunch goodness will be provided by local French patisserie Le Caprice, and coffee from Almanac Roasters.
March 14 will also see New Zealand’s Garage Project join forces with Fish Lane’s Wandering Cooks in celebration of global food and brews. El Planta, East By Middle East and Asador BNE have designed a menu of beer snacks with strong Middle Eastern and Mexican flavours including plant-based tacos, street corn and pakoras. Beers from Garage Project include a cereal milk stout, which sounds like an absolute dream.
It’s the trio you didn’t know you needed, and it’s certainly worth the drive north. Watering hole Crow N Arrow is teaming up with Akasha Brewing, Donut Kitchen and Pirates Plate to deliver plates and plates of delicious BBQ paired with unique brews and finished with speciality donuts. You know where to find us on March 14.
You can’t call yourself an Aussie until you’ve experienced the beauty of a hot meat pie and an ice cold frothy. Petrie Terrace’s drink-in bottle-o My Beer Dealer is combining these two classics for Brewsvegas, offering guests three unique beers and a pie inspired by a variety of different cuisines. Stay tuned for tickets and more info here!
Head Ipswich-bound on March 14 and prepare for a day celebrating the very best of brews and BBQ. 4 Hearts Brewing is teaming up with Ironwood Smokers BBQ for a joint masterclass, with your ticket nabbing you all the beers and BBQ samples you desire. Learn tips and tricks from the best in the industry and become a pitmaster yourself!
Big players at this year’s Brewsvegas, Saccharomyces is hosting five huge events as part of the “Pint of Origin” series. Scandinavia is the region of choice for Saccharomyces, and they’re ready to take beer lovers on a journey of flavour and complexity through the realms of Scandinavia. Centred around brews from Denmark’s Alefarm Brewing, Sunday, March 15 will see Asgard’s Alefarm Feast – a three course set menu with four matching beers – take over Saccharomyces.
Get jiggy (and gourmet) with it at Tipplers Tap’s epic French five-course degustation. Utilising fresh Tassie produce and classic French flavours, each dish will be paired with one of Willie Smith’s refreshing ciders.
We’ve all heard of cheese and wine, but what about cheese, cured meats and beer? This delicious pairing will be highlighted on Wednesday, March 18 with help from Bentspoke Brewing Co. and Le Fromage Yard.
This intimate experience is one for the gourmets out there! Sip on six 4 Hearts brews while you dine on six bespoke courses showcasing the very best local produce. Learn everything there is to know about brewing, courtesy of 4 Hearts’ head brewer while you enjoy some top notch fare!
