Where to celebrate the fourth of July in Brisbane

Red, white, and brew.

Home of the Star Spangled Banner, deep-fried Mars bars, and The Simpsons, if there’s one thing our American neighbours do mightily well, it’s throw an over-the-top celebration. While we don’t live down no Old Town Road, we’re always happy to adopt any form of celebration that involves the over-consumption of epic amounts of food, drinks, and more food.

Tuck yourself into the very best of USA this Fourth of July as Brisbane embraces the red and white stripes.

Harry’s Diner | Windsor

What could be more patriotic than an American diner (re-)opening on the Fourth of July? Long live the food-nited States of America as Harry’s Diner enters the Brisbane foodie scene this Thursday! Offering an American barbeque restaurant and bar, this funky diner will be dishing up meat by the pound, including pork ribs and half chickens all served with Alabama sauce. Complemented with American whiskies, craft beers, and 12 jazzed-up cocktails, y’all need to be sinking your teeth into Harry’s Diner this month.

Osbourne Hotel | Fortitude Valley

Two’s a crowd, but three’s a party, which is why Osbourne Hotel is throwing a doozy of an Independence Day bash with the New York-themed joint Brooklyn Standard and sports bar Fat Angel. Kicking off on Thursday, July 4th and running until Saturday (so no need to pull a sickie to enjoy this party, winner!), celebrate the land of the brave and free with an American-style cookout menu, beer-tap takeovers (92 taps of the good stuff to be exact, but who’s counting?), and signature cocktails.

Don your best cowboy boots for a hoedown throwdown as DJs spin the tracks to keep you jivin’ into the early hours of the morning. Think you’re a bit of hotdog expert? Boot scoot down from 6pm and see how many hotdogs you can eat in four minutes for your chance to win $150 cash!

Red Hook | CBD

Get hooked on chilli dogs and crispy fries this Fourth of July with Red Hook’s knee-slappin’, toe-tappin’ celebrations. Taste the sweet sensation of Texas with their delicious coupling of Tito’s Handmake Vodka and inventive cocktail flavours, including their Texan Mule and Poppin’ Pink Drink.

Sea Legs Brewing | Kangaroo Point

Stop, drop, and roll: how we will be exiting Sea Legs Brewing after their highly anticipated four-day Fourth of July fest. If the thought of Philly cheesesteak, chicken wings, and a popcorn machine get your heart racing and arteries pumping with anticipation, then Sea Legs is the place to be this year. Need another reason to seriously pig out? Grab one of their exclusive Hot Diggity Dog stamp cards on entry and eat your way to free merch and prizes! Be warned though: their tasty plethora of Sea Legs beers and American-themed cocktails might leave you legless.

Beerhaüs | Bowen Hills

Budweiser and hotdogs, try to name a more iconic duo. Embrace your inner Lady Liberty this Independence Day as Beerhaüs flies the American flag all day long. You don’t win friends with salad, but you will win friends with their deliciously tasty line-up of food and drink specials, including $5 beers, hotdogs and slices of pecan pie. Plus, washing down the goods will be all too tasty thanks to their traditional range of boilermakers. Don’t know what that is? Beer and a shot of whiskey, how bloody good. Secure your place here.

You’re gonna need to Teddy Loosen-belt after these celebrations.
