Where to celebrate National Margarita Day in Brisbane
Don’t pretend you weren’t going to have a marg on Friday anyway…
As if you needed an excuse to celebrate (or lament, it’s fine) the working week, along comes National Margarita Day on Friday the 22nd to elevate February from dicey to icy!
From much-loved Mexi joints to the most ‘grammable margs, we’ve rounded up the best spots to celebrate what we believe should be a public holiday.
El Camino Cantina | Bowen Hills
This Bowen Hills Mextravaganza is making the most of the day, with margs available in either 150z, 240z, or a whopping two-litre tower (been a big week, huh?). Tempt your refined tequila tastebuds with a classic, mango or strawberry margarita – served frozen, or on the rocks for the purists out there.
As a special to mark the occasian, El Camino is also putting up a Golden Rita – dusted with edible glitter, this alluring gal is the perfect end-of-week treat to pair with a few cheeky tacos – good as gold!
The Defiant Duck | Newstead
You might have experienced the quackery that is The Defiant Duck’s Margarita Sundays, and now the celebration of this beloved bev comes to a Friday! On National Marg Day, dive beak-first into two hours of Patron margaritas, and wash them down with some tasty tacos, all for $35.
Pepe’s Mexican | Coorparoo
It wouldn’t be a margarita wrap without mentioning Pepe’s! The Coorparoo location of this long-standing local fave is putting on $5 frozen margs for you to enjoy with your massive bowl of zesty guac. Marg my words – $5 margaritas are never a bad thing.
Osbourne Hotel | Fortitude Valley
It’s no secret that the Osbourne loves a party, so their National Margarita Day celebration, in partnership with Herradura, will be no exception! With a special menu running from 5:30 including pulled pork, fried chicken, beef and black bean, and halloumi tacos and chicken or veggie nachos, you’ll have the perfect snack to accompany your choices from the special margarita menu!
Think classic Herradura margs, or strawberry and jalapeño, espresso, and jugs of Tommy’s margs (that’s sans Cointreau for the uninitiated), and let the sweet tunes of Duo Serenata mariachi band send you right off to Oaxaca.
Story Bridge Hotel | Kangaroo Point
Jump on a ferry for the ideal Friday knockoff at Story Bridge’s marg party! There’ll be live music to get you in the spirits – sorry, spirit – and five flavourful margs on offer to sip back and relax with.
Finn McCool’s | Fortitude Valley
They may not be Irish, but the Irish love a marg as much as the next man! Celebrate National Marg Day at Finn McCools with special flavs including watermelon, strawberry and mango, and sangria jugs to keep your tequila thirst at bay. Leave the cooking for next week and dig in to some accompany specials including Margherita (margarita, get it?) pizzas, fish tacos, and nachos! Word on the street is there’ll also be a giant piñata – tonnes of tequila and a heavy implement? Sounds fine.
Whether you’re a traditional, frosty, or Tommy marg lover, National Margarita Day is the perfect excuse to knock back some might margs and get zesty.
