What's on this week in food: July 9-20

Wednesday July 9 What the truck! Green Beacon Brewing Co. have answered all our prayers and invited back the King of The Wings food truck for hump day madness, Wing it Wednesdays. Green Beacon will also sort you out with that imperial IPA you’ve been thinking about since Monday. Thursday July 10 If like us, you are making a concerned effort to eat all the pork belly in Brisbane then get down to Pony at Eagle Street Pier stat. Their new winter menu drops today and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for. Friday July 11 Hooray! You made it. Friday is here and the all-important decision of where to start your night has to be made. Considering The Rogue Rennard are now doing $5 sliders on Friday’s we don’t really think it’s too tough to decide. Saturday July 12 Winter cocktail specials at The Crosstown Eating House are the perfect fire-in-your-belly kickstart to Saturday night. The Black Demure, a blend of bourbon, creme de mure, cointreau and fresh lemon juice has our name written all over it. First round is on you. Sunday July 13 Fresh berries, burnt honey, orange syrup, pistachio mascarpone, have we got you yet? How about all of this atop some brioche french toast? Yep, we have you. If your going to do yourself one favour this week, get your Sunday breakfast right at The Gunshop Cafe. Monday July 14 Like any good national holiday, Bastille Day is celebrated with feasting. Check out our list of Brisbane’s Frenchiest eateries where you’ll find ‘magnifique’ cuisine and plenty of French bubbles. Tuesday July 15 In style of a night out most foodies would die for, Wandering Cooks will host a pop-up dinner featuring Yalumba’s award winning wines, paired with a four-course menu featuring canapes, charcuterie, artisan breads and decadent cheeses. Wednesday July 16 For one night only, Public is going paleo, dishing up a five-course banquet of grain-free, dairy-free dishes matched with caveman-friendly drinks (or something a bit stronger, if you’re not quite so against gluten). Thursday July 17 You’ll be able to afford to bar hop all night for Good Food Month with deals like Lychee Lounge’s Red Snapper cocktail, paired with an American-style Wagyu burger, and a side of fries for the small change of $20. Friday July 18 Long lunches aren’t just for Friday during July, all month Bucci are dishing up a choice of seared swordfish or crispy pork belly (who are we kidding, is there even a choice?) to match with wine, or mineral water. Clear the afternoon we say. Saturday July 19 Gather up the whole family for a weekend roast at Il Locale to cure your July and August winter blues. Succulent whole baby suckling pig rubbed in Italian herbs and roasted in a wood-fired oven will be carved at the table and shared as part of a three course menu. This little piggy is running all the way there. Sunday July 20 Fortitude Valley’s first Latin street festival, presented by GPO and Aguila, kicks off at midday for a fiesta that’s set to go long into the night, with feasting, drinking, and of course, dancing. Bring on the paella!
