With an entirely bacon inspired three course menu including entree, main and dessert, as well as 3 bacon inspired drinks, this is a whole lot of bacony goodness you don’t want to miss.
So for the love of bacon book your tickets now! They’re $45 and you can find out how to grab them here. Thursday 11 Dropping $225 on a lunch might seem like a big deal for you, but it will be an even bigger deal for the kids with cancer who benefit from the proceeds of The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation’s Big Plates 4 Little Mates lunch at Aria. And with Chef Matt Moran himself in the kitchen, it’s sure to be a culinary experience worthy of the cause! Friday 12 Wandering Cooks will play host to an epic Battle Royale where, after 5 weeks of tough rounds doing their best to win over our tastebuds, local food producers will fight it out to become the champion of them all. Every Friday night for five weeks, local chefs will have gone head to head at Friday Nite Snackdown and whipped up meals from different themes or cultures, with satisfied diners voting for their favourite at the end of the evening. So be sure to get yourself back to Wandering Cooks for the Battle Royale to cheer them on in the final battle – and eat the spoils! Saturday 13 The annual Variety of Chefs Ball is coming up, and this year is set to continue the tradition it’s known for: exceptional food and drink. Revel in a 5 course degustation dinner created by ten talented guest chefs (including Colin Fassnidge and Adrian Richardson), with each dish partnered perfectly with an award winning wine. You’ll enjoy fantastic food whilst doing something good – proceeds from the night go towards helping disadvantaged and sick kids, so you’ll be helping to raise funds to get them the support and treatment that they need. Tickets are $275 and you can get them here. Sunday 14 How better to celebrate cultural diversity and the contribution of so many new and emerging communities here in Brisbane than with a feast of cultural eats! Annerly Soccer Club will be home to WelcomeFest, a festival of traditional music, visual arts, craft and of course, delicious food! It’s all happening as a part of Refugee Week, so head along and discover the international cuisine our city has to offer! Monday 15 Get your superfood fix all day day long at Portside’s new health food mecca, Pineapple Express. Morning eats like protein pancakes and green breakfast bowls and lunches like naked burgers in lettuce ‘buns’ and zucchini pasta, as well as acai bowls, smoothies and raw snacks, will have you back in those skinny jeans in no time. Tuesday 16 If you’ve dined at the cozy restaurant tucked away at 85 Miskin Street in Toowong over the last 10 years, you no doubt walked away with more than one favourite dish. And you might just find those dishes on the special menu available at the restaurant throughout June and July, featuring the likes of crispy confit duck with butternut pumpkin or the infamous black forest floor. The six course menu is available for lunch or dinner at just $60pp. Wednesday 17 As Queensland and New South Wales ready their respective armies for State of Origin Game 2 and 3, the team at Pony Dining have created a State Tribute Plate for lunchtime allegiances! Stop in for lunch and you can feast on a $39 lunch of either Queensland Black Angus Scotch Fillet with a XXXX Gold or NSW Rangers Valley Flat Iron with a James Squire 150 Lashes. Thursday 18 You’d think a seven course degustation of some Brisbane’s tastiest fare would cost a small fortune, right? Not at Deer Duck Bistro, where Tuesday to Friday you can get your hands on the ultimate midweek steal in the form of seven sumptuous tasting courses for $77! With delicate, seasonal dishes like chicken wings with corn and a hit of tarragon or a decadent chocolate pear and hazelnut dessert, you’d be ducking silly not to head in for midweek dinner! Friday 19 Head on down to Brisbane’s tastiest markets at Hamilton to get your hands on a steaming takeaway bowl of Fat Noodle’s famous fat pho noodles, fiery Singapore laksa or spicy pork salad. Or all three, we certainly won’t judge! Eat Street is now home to Fat Noodle on the regular, with the tasty Vietnamese fare available Friday and Saturday from 4-10pm and Sundays from 10am-3pm. Saturday 20 The good peeps out at Sunnybank are giving food lovers a chance to sample all the diverse cuisines on offer on a delicious food trail of Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park. The free event will traipse through over 30 of the suburbs restaurants and food outlets from 2-8pm, with one or two tasty mini dishes available at each destination for $2 each. Afterwards, you’ll know just where to head back to in the future when you get a sudden craving for wonton soup, fluffy pork buns or chicken karaage. And you know you will. Sunday 21 Wandering Cooks seasonal event, Small Batch, is like a food trade show for local foodies. The upcoming Small Batch Winter is your chance to sample some of the best up and coming local producers Brisbane has to offer, with plenty of local brewers to help wash it all down. And as the cold tendrils of winter are creeping in, there’ll be a few hot food guests to warm things up as well. The event kicks on from 6-10pm, with free entry.
