What's New This Week

This weather has us more confused than that time we saw Inception after a few too many sangrias.

But, if there’s one thing we can be sure of this week, it’s that it’s set to be a doozy when it comes to foodie events and eats.

It’s that time of the year again. Stroll through the showgrounds with fairy floss in hand as you listen to the ambient screams of children (or us) on the giant swing, and check out the Fresh Food Pavilion for the maximum foodie experience.

But before you’re hitting the bumper cars and contemplating how hard it would be to steal a baby goat, read our guide on the best ways to spend Ekka Wednesday – because Bertie Beetle can wait.

Espresso Martini Festival

If the Ekka isn’t your cuppa, head down Fish Lane for a night of caffeine, booze and delectable eats in the form of the Espresso Martini Festival! Although the Tuesday sesh is sold out, you can drop by on Wednesday for a line-up of special concoctions and tasty bites from Hello Please and Ol’ School with tickets on the door.

I Like Ramen | The Coop

A collab more anticipated than The Carters, The Coop has teamed up with vegan ramen masters I Like Ramen – and so do we. Open for lunch and dinner on every Sunday until the 2nd of September, indulge in oodles of meatless noodles alongside a specially selected wine list.

Win a $300 dinner | Laneway WV

West Village is upping the anti on dinner in West End with their new comp! Enter to win $300 worth of entrees, mains and cocktails from the lush Laneway WV, including mouth-watering treats from Salt Meats Cheese.

Strawberry Sundae Ice Cream Ale | Fritzenberger

Support Aussie farmers and get your drink on at Fritzenberger as they celebrate the Ekka in the only way we know how – with a Strawberry Sundae ale! If Willy Wonka catered to a more mature audience, we suspect he would have definitely had a hand in this creation – with a layer of Vanilla Ice Cream and a layer of Fritzen Strawberry Belgium Blond, it’s only available until stocks last from the 14th

The Oxford Garden | Bulimba

Past the blue and gold sign of The Oxford Garden is the latest bar and restaurant to hit Bulimba! Much-loved Barcadia has had a makeover in the best way, offering bug tail bao and truffle fries from the coolest venue this side of town. If you’re feeling cheeky, grab a tiki cocktail – and don’t worry, they’re still offering 50c wing Wednesdays.
