WHAT’S NEW THIS WEEK

  • Food & Booze
It’s beginning to feel a lot like summer, and what better way to beat the heat than to eat? (not scientifically proven but we’re pretty sure that food can fix almost any situation) From cheap eats to vegan pop ups to gin cocktail masterclasses, this week will be more refreshing than a sipping a crisp Milton mango in a blow up pool. God bless Australian culture.
Artie & Mai | Albion
It mai be time to check out this neighbourhood favourite, if you haven’t already. Artie & Mai have whipped up a new seasonal daytime menu, as well as introduced dinner eats to write home about – kicking off this week for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Think pork belly bites with fennel jam, panko crumbed haloumi sticks, and $15 pizza night on Thursdays.
The Coop Bistro | Fortitude Valley
Time to taco ‘bout Bueno Bueno at The Coop Bistro! Every Thursday night from 5-10pm, you can settle in for some very happy hours with $3 tacos, plus sangria and margaritas, because alcohol.
Grown | West End
Grown is pulling up to the (degu)station with twice weekly vegan pop ups! Running on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, an ever-changing seven course degustation menu will be available for eight diners at a time. That’s pretty perfect for a post work wine down (yes, the option of matched wines definitely stands).
The Stables Craft Bar & Kitchen | Ascot
If you’re looking for a stable relationship, this local go-to might just be the one. The Stables Craft Bar & Kitchen has worked up a new menu, including every dish for $13 at lunchtime. Launching on January 18, you’ll be able to get around $13 eats all day in celebration of these new tidings!
How We Rolls | Fortitude Valley
Sabotage Social’s kitchen is about to be taken over by the meaty stylings of How We Rolls! Every Wednesday to Sunday from 5-9pm, you can bite into their signature brioche rolls, open plates of house smoked meats and weekly specials that’ll be rolling off the shelves.
Dutch Courage Officers’ Mess | Fortitude Valley
Want to make your cocktails and drink them too? Dutch Courage is shaking things up with their 1990s gin cocktail masterclass. You can create your very own bramble and breakfast martini, tackle them both, and head home with some recipe sheets (and an excuse to incorporate gin into your breakfast routine).
Saké | Eagle Street Pier
Lunch? Good. Champagne lunch? That’s the sip we’re talking about. Available at Saké every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm, free-flowing Veuve Clicquot and Chandon Vintage will be paired with a selection of Saké dishes to leave you feeling pretty damn bubbly. Being an adult sure has its perks.
Fratelli Famous | Eagle Street Pier
Once you get a taste of fame, you’ll be hungry for more. Every Friday from 3-5pm, Fratelli Famous serves handsome $10 pizza and $5 beer deals. If you’re still stuck in the office, don’t chuck a sneaky arvo sickie, Deliveroo has your back. Now that’s a slice of the good life.
Miss Bliss | West End
Think eating healthy is too expensive? Think again. West End’s beloved Miss Bliss has sussed out that locals want a selection of easy to take away items at a reduced price, and that’s exactly what they’re about to offer. Launching on January 22, you can grab fun DIY nourish bowls and lots more without forking out your savings. Looks like your New Year’s resolution is safe.
Carl’s Jnr | Redbank Plains
Hold the burger phone, Carl’s Jnr is opening its doors on January 18. It’s important to note that being an early bird will get you burgers – a patty flippin’ year’s worth to be exact. If you’re one of the first 50 through the door, you’ll be meating your dream situation for the rest of 2018. Words by Nicole Portacha – the gourmand who is flippin’ excited for the week ahead!
