Here it is, our last full week of winter for the year.

Time to put on your fancy coat and head out to all of the new eats and drinks Brissy has to offer before the snap back to summer heat leaves us completely immobilised in a state of sweaty discomfort.

hôntô Opens | Fortitude Valley

Meet us behind the train station, right next to the Matt Blatt loading dock on Alden Street. Don’t worry, you’re not about to be robbed, we’re hitting up Honto, the new Japanese fusion restaurant by the team behind LONgTIME. Honto’s contemporary take on classic, Japanese cuisine is well worth the trip to the gritty corners of Fortitude Valley.

Moon Dog Sweet and Savoury Craft Beer Dinner | Isles Lane | CBD

You’ve still got two more chances to get to Isles Lane for this four course demonstration of paddock to plate. Set your tastebuds alight as each dish is paired with a curious creation from the mad scientists at Moon Dog featuring every flavour from salted truffle to cherry pie, packed into a divine, craft beer.

Deadpool Double Burger | Ribs & Burgers

The Merc with a Mouth has given his stamp of approval to a new delectable, double Angus burger from Ribs & Burgers. Of course, by “stamp of approval” we mean he’s slapped his beautiful (masked) face onto the charcoal black bun because Deadpool and subtlety go together like DC Films and critical success.

TSO Lounge & Dining | Fortitude Valley

The latest in the long list of reasons why Bakery Lane is awesome, TSO is the Valley’s new, intimate whiskey bar boasting a modern twist on a classic, speakeasy inspired setting. The new reno’s look great but that stacked bar is what has us excited for a taste.

Marquee Bar Opening | Fortitude Valley

Your own piece of Flemington style luxury in the Valley, The Marquee bar is open for business. Become a member of the Marquee Society for access to their exclusive events or swing by for some midnight, gourmet street food. Marquee caters to all levels of society.

Spudbar Wintergarden | CBD

Hot potato-ing off a bunch of free spuds for national potato day, Spudbar Wintergarden are celebrating everything that’s great about your favourite vegetable / Irish stereotype. If you can dream it, Spudbar put it on a hot spud!

Mongrel Bar Opens | Milton

After wandering Brisbane’s pop up scene for a year, the “flavour pimps” from Mongrel have finally found their permanent home on Park Road. Never fear, this upgrade hasn’t compromised their lovable, scruffy vibe; Mongrel are still dishing out their brand of Peruvian, street food that’s best enjoyed with a good, house-brewed beer.

Bardon Shed | Bardon

Still new but already winning the hearts of the community, Bardon shed is your one-stop market for everything from local produce to fresh bread to a gourmet deli. Not convinced? Bardon Shed are putting these ingredients to the test in their on-site espresso and juice bars.

Youth Food Movement

An Australia-wide non-profit delivering hot knowledge to young people about the importance of sustainable and informed food consumption, the Youth Food Movement are hosting a trivia night on the 21stof August to encourage people to engage with these issues. A responsible gourmand is a happy gourmand!
