Whether the cold snap has the office sounding like an orchestral horn performance or your pantry resembling the soup aisle at Coles, one thing’s for sure – there ain’t no cure like comfort food.

We’re dusting off our jackets (or in our case, arctic wear – 19 degrees may as well be sub-zero) and prepping our winter bods.

Parallel Roasters| Albion

We’re keen as a bean for the first flagship location of the much-loved Parallel Roasters! Albion’s latest café prioritises uncomplicated coffee with a selection of other drinks (including milkshakes) and will be serving up all-day classics with a focus on local produce.

Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day| Brisbane Racing Club | Ascot

Get frocked for BRC’s Doomben Cup Day with high fashion, live entertainment and fab feeds from some of Brisbane’s most popular food trucks on the 19th. Sip on champagne from the Chandon wine bar or book a private marquee to be that much more extra.

Seadeck| Brisbane

The boat is back in town, and we’re flipping ship. Coming straight from its Sydney escapades, renowned Seadeck is making a splash in Brisbane waters with cruises and dining, sailing around the Brisbane River for 11 weeks. Expect bites, booze and live entertainment from the deck.

Champagne Masterclass| Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort | Noosa

Pop off at Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort on May 19 with a champagne masterclass. As part of the effervescent Noosa Food & Wine Festival, this event will take you on a champagne and matched foods journey – the perfect way to spend a morning!

Unicorn Noodle Salad | Vietnamese Mint | Bulimba

The unicorn trend has been revived in the form of noodles at Vietnamese Mint. Grab a bowl of the salad and embrace your inner insta influencer (seriously, just try not taking a pic – it’s an impossible feat), or try their magic noodles that’ll leave you feeling blue, da ba dee, da ba da.

Milky Lane| Surfers Paradise

The popular Sydney eatery Milky Lane burger bar is opening this Friday in Surfers, and we couldn’t be happier. Try their delicious range of burgers, and mark your calendars because come June 1, they’ll be serving up tasty seasonal desserts too. Suns out, buns out!

Revamped Menu | Two Tables Café | Albion

Albion’s Two Tables Café is seeing a metamorphosis of its popular menu, loved for their plant-based foods and extensive vegan options. We’re a be-leaf-er in their home-made cakes and bread, and we can’t wait to try out their new bagel, burger and pancake range.

Paniyiri| South Brisbane

Get (plate) smashed at Paniyiri, gracing our lives again this weekend! Get your trackies at the ready, because with Paniyiri comes an abundance of mouth-watering Greek cuisine, and you feta not be restricted by unnecessarily tight clothing.

International Cake Show| Brisbane Showgrounds | Bowen Hills

If you’re into cakes (or putting cakes into you) as much as we are, get excited because the International Cake Show Australia is here this weekend, and the icing on the cake is that there will be a two-day live international cake-off challenge between six of the world’s most famous cake artists.
