- Food & Booze
Top chefs gather for Fine Food Queensland this weekend.
10 Apr 2014
Like a well-loved, edible boomerang, Fine Food Queensland is back for another year, bringing with it some 200+ examples of the best food, drink and equipment in Australia. Kicking off this Sunday 13 April, if you’re a farmer, providor, supplier, restaurateur, café owner, food trucker, team member or any other person in hospitality that is currently lacking life and sleep, then come on down. In addition to showcasing a huge number of Australian food and booze producers, the three-day event features a series of engaging presentations by some of the nation’s top culinary icons, discussions on everything from embracing craft beer to sustainable food and business solutions, plus a stack of live master classes for those wanting to perfect their piping skills. Among the speakers, Philip Johnson of e’cco bistro, winner of Gourmet Traveller’s ‘Best New Talent’ for 2013 and Urbane’s Executive Chef Alejandro Cancino, and everyone’s favourite TV personality and chef, Alistair McLeod. Also in super exciting news, The Gourmand & Gourmet will be making a brief appearance to guest judge THE FINALS of the Australian Smoothie & Juice Championships for 2014! Held Monday morning, we’ll be sipping and slurping liquid creations from the likes of Sourced Grocer, The Standard Market Company and Coconut Magic to name a few, before crowning the winner (hot tip: I’m quite partial to a bit of grated ginger). Keen to head along? Registration is free until 5pm Friday, after that it’s a fixed $20 at the door. While we’d love you all to come and taste smoothies with us, Fine Food Queensland is strictly a trade only event and entry is restricted to members of the retail, food service and hospitality industry.
