To market to market at Mt Gravatt Plaza
25 Apr 2016
If you don’t mind being elbow deep in bargains, or perhaps need a little help putting together the perfect Mother’s Day plans, then this weekend is the time for you to hit Mt Gravatt Plaza’s Market Day, where you can (green) bag a whole lot of seasonal din-spiration from your local bakery, fruit shop, butcher and cafés. Head over to the south side on Saturday 7 May from 10am–2pm for a little produce discovery, flash sales, giveaways and much more, right in time for some Mother’s Day lunch inspiration. There’s even something for the youngsters to do, with a station where kids can decorate a shopping bag for Mum at one of their many free workshops running throughout the day. Get ready to get a little epicurious about what’s in season, with specialty stores like Crispy Carrot pallet buys you’ll go bananas for, and centre-wide flash sales like half price coffee and tea, $7.49 per kilo chicken breasts from Lenard’s, porterhouse steak from A&M Meats for only $9.99 a kilo (it would be a mi-steak to miss that!) and much, much more. A hotbed of new ideas for breakfasts, lunches, dinner parties and even what to whip up in a week night rush, Mt Gravatt Plaza will be running workshops, cooking demos and free food sampling all day long to highlight the wonderful fresh food available every day at your local. With over 30 specialty produce stores and retailers selling everything from eggs, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, meats, breads and health foods, there’s a little something for everyone. You can find a complete list of store holders and retailers on their website, along with a few handy hints on recipes and shopping lists for you to keep up your sleeve come Market Day. Bonus points! If you make a purchase over $5 anytime during Market Day, you’ll go into the draw to win one of five Nutribullets. Just try and stop us! Saturdays in Mt Gravatt never looked so good. Words by Lucille Burkitt Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
