This Valley bar that’s about to be your new fave
29 Aug 2016
Been to The Wickham lately? If not, you should definitely put it on your agenda – for breakfast, dinner AND drinks. That’s right, this Valley stalwart has had a makeover, and added some tasty new additions to their menus. Always infamous for being the spot to have a good time, they’re now the place to start the day and finish the night, with an early morning breakfast menu, delicious late night bites and cocktails worth dropping in for all on their own. It’s not just the eats and drinks that have had a makeover though – the whole venue is looking pretty schmick – especially in their uber trendy garden bar. Outside under the fairy lights you’ll find picnic tables, quirky chalkboards and private spaces to sit and play board games in shipping containers (which you can book for quirky birthday gatherings, btw). Part industrial, part enchanting, it’s definitely not the Wickham you remember from way back when (or maybe don’t remember – those Saturday nights were a little wild). For us of course, it’s the food and booze that has us ditching our usual watering hole for a tipple in the garden – champagne and elderflower cocktails topped with cotton candy? Ploughman’s boards piled with roast beef, pickled veg and cheese? And then there’s the burgers – one of which includes peanut butter and bacon. Need we say more? There’s some hearty options too, including pizzas with potato and bacon or salmon and cream cheese, or classic pub feeds like chicken parmigiana and beer battered fish and chips. And with plenty of beers on tap, you’ll always be able to find a drink to pair it with. In need of a quick morning feed? Open from 6.30am Monday to Friday, the coffee window has just the pick-me-up you need before work (or after a big night out), with great big steaming mugs of coffee and light brekkies like toasted banana bread, smashed avo and feta on toast and healthful acai bowls – you know, if you’re in need of some superfoods. It’s not like you’ll ever have to scramble for an excuse to visit either – with something on just about every day of the week, from Saturday fashion markets to Wednesday night open air cinemas, there’s always reason to drop in for a drink (or 5). We don’t need to tell you where The Wickham is – we know you’ve already made plans to get the squad together and hit the bar. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
