The Valley's Newest Makeover: The Waterloo Hotel

  • Food & Booze
Look, if we’re being real here, we can barely manage half-decent eyeliner before a night out, but the Waterloo Hotel manages to stay dressy (and show us up) after 80 years in the biz! The Valley OG has had top-notch pub grub in the parma our hands (nudge, nudge) for years of cocktail-induced snack-cidents, but its doors have just reopened on a massive refurb. Vamped up with an art deco vibe that’d put our homes to shame, this curtain raise has been two years in the making, and we’ve been chomping at the bit to get a taste of the new menu. Forget barside parmies and kick up your feet on the Waterloo’s leather lounges with plates of pork belly fritters, loaded fries, and 12 hour slow braised brisket in chipotle BBQ sauce. Slice of advice while we’re at it: grab one of the pizzas topped in roast pumpkin, feta and pomegranate or spiced lamb, yoghurt and lemon before we inhale ‘em all. Calm down, Mum, we’re still getting our fruit intake – the Waterloo serves up weekend punch in your very own pineapple. Just ignore the Chambord and flamingo swizzle stick and you’ve practically got a fruit salad, amirite? For a glance at the schmick new digs (before you lose yourself behind a mountain of food, anyway), find the Waterloo Hotel on the corner of Ann St & Commercial Road. Words by Samantha Chariton  Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
