The south side café we can’t get enough of

  • Food & Booze
We’ve all got a fave local café. You know, the one you dash into before work and they’ve got your coffee order coming before you even say hello, and stop by each Sunday morning for a perfect breakfast every time. That Little Place is one of those spots, tucked away in a quiet street in Mt Gravatt so suburban you’d only know about it if you got lost on the way to somewhere else. But their delicious offerings and smiling service have made them quite the hit with the locals, even more so now that they are bringing back their Saturday night drinks sessions with live music every weekend from 4pm, so you can hang out with a glass of wine and some nibbles without needing to go too far from home. And when those nibbles include a pulled pork and bacon loaded double layer waffle burger and Nutella topped brownies? We’re practically ready to move in. that-little-place-2 But if it’s a caffeinated Merlo brew early in the morning or big bacon loaded breakfast plate you’re after, these guys can certainly help – especially on Sunday morning after those glasses of wine the night before. For the extra hungry types, tuck into big plates like That Little Breakfast (don’t worry, the name is just a moniker), stacked with scrambled eggs, smokey bacon, grilled tomato, avocado, toasted sourdough and Roza’s tomato chutney. Got a sweet tooth? The waffles with ice cream and syrup will sate your cravings, or you can opt for the healthier toasted granola, layered with organic yoghurt, strawberries and honey. that-little-place-3 And don’t worry that you have to get up early – their brekky menu is available all day. Of course, if you want to pair it with one of their fancy milkshakes in decadent flavours like Cherry Ripe, Mars Bar or Nutella, we’d suggest waiting until at least mid-morning – but hey, who are we to put time limits on your sugar cravings? That Little Place even make sure the little people are taken care of, with kids milkshakes, babycinos with a 100s & thousands biscuit on the side, and plenty of books to keep them occupied. Ready to make That Little Place your new local? You’ll find them at 28 Carrara Street, Mt Gravatt, open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, and Saturday evenings for drinks and bar bites.
