The Red Hill dining spot for every occasion
Plum Tucker is one of those cute suburban cafes you find yourself at every Sunday morning, not just because the food is so damn delicious you don’t want to go anywhere else, but also because you know you’ll be greeted like an old friend and feel completely at home in their cosy dining area.
Plus, they officially have the best barista in town, and a salted chocolate brownie that we’ve been known to threaten people over if they don’t leave us a slice.
Now, we could waffle on all day about the all day breakfast menu at this Brisbane cafe, which includes three kinds of avocado on toast (THREE!), a DIY option and enough vegan and gluten free options to please even the fussiest of friends.
But it’s their dinner menu that really has us drooling. From Thursday to Saturday, you can tuck into gourmet fare and pair it with a range of wine and beer or an espresso martini outside in the breezy (but totally weather proof) courtyard. They’ve even got an upstairs private dining room if you’ve got a big group (or just loads of rellies).
Start with small plates like the fried ricotta and chive gnocchi with cauliflower and creamy sauce that will have you licking the plate clean (literally – we did) and crispy onion rings with house made smoky tomato sauce.
For mains, you’re sorted no matter what your preference. Just hit the gym after work and need a nutritious feed? Get a load of the health bowl, with brown rice, chilli beans, slaw, avocado, almond sour cream and the option of maple pulled pork if you’re feeling particularly hangry. Vegos can feast on the mushroom and blue cheese burger, or delicious fresh made pasta, while carnivores can tuck into a classic cheeseburger with mustard and pickles or try the shared dish.
Changing weekly, the generous share dish makes use of amazing cuts of meat, and will leave you with only just enough room for dessert. Which is a good thing – you want room for the sticky date pudding with salted caramel sauce, trust us.
Don’t feel like you need to leave the kids at home either, because not only do Plum Tucker have totally cute kids menu, complete with a colouring in pack for each little visitor and healthy options they’ll actually eat, they even treat them to a bowl of ice cream. With sprinkles. And they eat half price on Thursdays. Heck that’s a deal so good we’re going to borrow a niece just to take advantage of it.
Plum Tucker is also intent on using ethically minded produce throughout their entire menu, including free range eggs and meat and organic milk. Owners Kate and Matthew are quite the animal lovers, and look into the ethical treatment of animals when sourcing their products. They’ve even made sure you can bring your four legged friends along to the café, with dog friendly seating to ensure nobody is left out.
If you’re already convinced that Plum Tucker is your new local, you can find the Brisbane café at 5 Enoggera Terrace, open 7 days for breakfast and dinner Thursday to Saturday. They’re the perfect all rounder no matter the occasion.

Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
