The north side breakfast spot you probably didn’t know about

Smooth, rich and satisfying – no, we’re not talking about your perfect man, we’re talking about the perfect brews you’ll find pouring at Elixir Coffee HQ. Tucked away in Stafford, this coffee roastery and café might only be known to the locals, but they dish up some breakfasts that are definitely worth seeking out. If you get a little lost on your way, just follow your nose – the aroma of freshly roasted coffee should help you pinpoint their location on Hayward Street! Beans are sourced everywhere from Brazil to Kenya to create smooth and varied blends that get sent to cafes and coffee lovers right across the country. Whether you like it sweet and cinnamon spiced, dark and toffee-like or velvety smooth, Elixir has a blend for you, with years of experience under their belt at crafting the perfect blends. They’ve even got the awards to prove it! Let their knowledgeable baristas make you the perfect cuppa or pick up some beans or coffee pods to take home – you’ll soon understand why they’re a Brisbane fave. Elixir 2 The passionate duo behind all this are Jason and David, who have been surrounded by coffee since they were 5 and 8 thanks to their family’s specialty coffee business, Cosmopolitan Coffee – so you could almost say their blood type is coffee. What does that mean for you? A sensational morning brew of course! If it takes more than coffee to wake you up of a morning (or afternoon – we’re not all early risers), just check out their brekky menu, which has a little something for everyone, from the traditionalists to the health-obsessed.  For a quick mid-week pitstop, drop in for a bacon and egg roll or smashed avo on toast (bonus, they’re both under $10 – you don’t see that at the inner city cafes!), but if you’re after a leisurely Saturday brunch, unleash your tastebuds on the Bounty pancakes with house made Nutella ganache, toasted coconut, chocolate crumble and ice cream. Clean eaters can refuel with the paleo plate, while those with big appetites won’t walk away hungry from the sweetcorn cakes stacked with bacon, poached eggs, smashed avo and tomato salsa. There’s even plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options, and of course, a coffee list almost as long as the breakfast line-up! Elixir 3 Lunch is just as scrumptious (possibly even more if we’re honest). The haloumi stack towering with roasted mushrooms and pumpkin, streaky bacon, grilled broccoli and zucchini and sweet potato puree may just be our favourite way to get in those 5 veggies a day, while the sticky BBQ pulled pork and slow roasted lamb burgers will have any carnivore drooling. So next time you find yourself on the north side (or not – they’re worth travelling for!), make your way to Elixir Cofffee HQ, and get yourself addicted to their brews. You’ll find them at 12 Hayward Street, Stafford, open Monday to Saturday for breakfast, lunch and caffeination. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
