The mother of all Mother's Day lunches

  • Food & Booze
Mum, we can never repay you for everything you’ve done for us (including the load of washing we’re bringing over tonight – soz). Other than a bottomless bottle of wine, the perfect Mother’s Day gift can be a tricky find – but we’ve definitely nailed it this year. Cheeky cocktail spot Cloudland is ready to spoil Mum this Sunday 14 May with their new Italian menu and a glass of Mumm champagne for the special lady (coincidence or clever pun, we wonder?). The mother of all lunches kicks off with shared entrees of cured meats and charcuterie with grissini, crusty bread and provolone, and caprese, tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil. After that, it’s time to secure your spot as fave child with the main event – individual main courses of succulent lamb rump with white polenta, confit garlic, green beans and lamb jus, or chicken wrapped in prosciutto with white beans, sausage and peperonata. If nothing else said ‘sorry for all those macaroni necklaces’ quite enough, don’t worry – the vanilla panna cotta they’re plating up for dessert has your back. For the little ones (under 12), there’s also a set menu of spaghetti bolognaise and semifreddo – along with enough activities to earn Mum a guaranteed quiet moment (and that’s the real gift, isn’t it?). To distract from any embarrassing childhood stories, Cloudland has lined up live music by Millenium Band throughout the day. Mum’s the word – get in quick! Bookings to this super-sized lunch are limited (and so is your window to impress Mum before you ask her to iron your washing, too). Words by Nicole Portacha Keeping the G&G up to date requires a lot of double lattes, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
