The Good Food and Wine Show

If the words ‘cheese alley’ and ‘grazing garden’ get you a little excited, this year’s Good Food and Wine Show is an event you won’t want to miss. Filling the Brisbane Convention Centre with food, wine, beer, coffee, Zumbo macarons and food trucks from October 17-19, the show is pretty much our idea of foodie heaven, with eats and drinks for every passion. Wine lovers can take a free wine appreciation class in the Riedel Wine Theatre before testing out their new skills on the hundreds of local wines just waiting for a sniff and swirl. Then wander over to the cheese alley where regional cheese makers will be waiting to melt your heart with their wares. Coffee addict?  Nespresso and Chiasso Coffee roasters will get you jittering. Or if sweets are your thing you are well and truly set with exhibitors for all things sugar and chocolate, including some of our faves like Kokopod, Mayfield Chocolates and Carcamo’s Gourmet Caramel Apples. Hello sugar rush! And don’t worry, there’ll be plenty to purchase and take home for later. For something different this year, a few of Brisbane’s best food trucks will be giving up roaming the city for the weekend and parking themselves in the Nip of Courage Grazing Garden. If all those samples haven’t filled you up you can top up on pork buns from the Bun Mobile or beef brisket from That BBQ Joint. Of course, there will also be plenty of big names in the food industry there for demonstrations and classes to give you some tips on how to cook up all the goodies you pick up along the way. Miguel Maestre will be whipping up the perfect paella for spice lovers or if you’ve been attempting and failing macaron baking ever since that macaron tower appeared on Masterchef, Adriano Zumbo will be on hand to help you finally perfect your technique in a two hour masterclass. If that all sounds like a pretty delicious plan for the weekend to you, head over to the website to find out more and grab tickets. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
