The Gold Coast's best waterfront bars
It's hard to imagine a better summer scenario than enjoying a bev at the beach, so here's our list of the best waterfront venues the GC has to offer.
With summertime quickly approaching, our daydreams are equally as quickly turning to post-swim cocktails by the beach. The Gold Coast has a range of unreal bars situated at the water’s edge, so why not experience some of the best views and best bevs the GC has to offer!
Beautiful views and beautiful food. What more could we ask for? Showcasing some of the most creative cocktails and a beautiful selection of fresh food, Edgewater provides the goods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their cocktail connoisseurs have concocted the perfect accompaniment to the items on their delectable menu. Chasing a fancy cocktail evening with the girls or a classy lad’s night out? Edgewater’s aptly named “Liquid Journey” can provide the goods. Their private function room is also available for hire and serves as a perfect spot to host a night to remember, set against the glittering backdrop of the Surfers Paradise skyline.
Just metres from the sand, we’re not sure you could get much closer to the beach if you tried! With a revamped menu full of tasty treats channelling their pan-Asian flavour scheme in new ways, you’ll be sure to be salivating long after you’ve left. Featured starter dishes include, their famous fried bug roll, karaage chicken and their raw bar of oysters and more. For mains, think curries and hearty meat dishes and for dessert, why not try their Modern Day Pavlova with an Asian twist or their caramelised pineapple creation? Either way, there’s something for everyone and the view is second to none!
We bet you didn’t know that Main Beach’s long-standing Marina Mirage houses one of the Coast’s best harbour views and some of the Coast’s best food. Offering a la carte options or set menus for groups, the extensive menu includes produce straight from the sea, the farm and an abundance of mouth-watering share plates, salads and sides. Just some of the dishes that will make your tastebuds dance include Texas-style pork ribs, hot seafood platter, Angus steaks with all the trimmings, and sizzling garlic prawns. Vegos, you haven’t been forgotten, but we’re not going to lie, this really is a carnivore’s paradise.
Sister to Edgewater Dining and run by the same owners, this stunning venue is allllll about that seafood life (as if the name didn’t give that away!). Catering to functions and offering takeaway and, of course, dine-in options with a view of Surfers’ towering skyline, it is the perfect place to enjoy a Sunday afternoon or a romantic evening eating some of the finest seafood sourced from Australian and New Zealand waters. Our top picks for main? Linguine marinara, Oysters Kilpatrick and the Tasmanian salmon have us salivating and of course, we’re all about the sides, so we’ll take one of each thanks!
Often overlooked in the past, the Southern Gold Coast has really stepped up its venue game and Baskk is no exception. Set back from beautiful Currumbin Beach with distant skyline views, this gram-worthy spot will have you saying ooh-ahhh. Idealised to be a place to share food, Baskk also boasts a seven-course lunch banquet, a dinner banquet and a progressive pizza banquet. Yes, you read that right! For just $39 pp (minimum 8 people), you can pick from over 30 pizza toppings to construct the perfect one! The perfect spot for a weekend tipple or swapping cardio for carbs (let’s be real), you’ll be baskk-ing in the experience either way!
Voted “Best Dining Venue” on the Gold Coast and with a menu that changes daily to reflect the best quality seafood available, you just know The Fish House has reached boss restaurant status already. Accompanied by views of the beach, their range of marine produce is arguably unmatched (although they have thrown in a Sirloin for good measure). Whether you like your seafood in pasta, raw, smoked or just want a whole fish, The Fish House can provide!
Arguably the best view of the beach with reasonable prices to boot, the relaxed feel of the local Surf Club will have you in the mood to relax. Family-friendly and easy on the hip pocket, they also have $15 lunch specials Monday-Friday (win!). The panoramic views stretch from Surfers Paradise down to Coolangatta and provide the perfect backdrop to your meal. Bonus for locals, living within 5 kilometres of the Club who may have enjoyed a few too many cocktails or vinos to go with their parmy: the Club’s courtesy bus is at your service to get you home safely!
