Christmas is coming and we all know what that means – eating. A lot of eating. Diets aren’t in the Christmas vocabulary. So, while you’re having a cheat day (or month rather), why not eat your way through the ten best eats in Brisbane right now.
#1. Coffee soft serve | Queen of Pops | Clayfield
No more shall we sweat our way through summer because Queen of Pops has created the smooth, caffeine soft serve of our dreams. Just don’t let us have any after 10pm.
With six delicious gnocchi sauces to choose from at their new venue, from wild mushroom and truffle specialty to the newly created duck ragu, you’d have to be mad to be satisfied with just one bowl.
#3. Cheese toastie | Melt Brothers | CBD
Mac ‘n’ cheese, maple and bacon, or buttermilk fried chicken? The choice is not easy cheesy here – in fact, we’d say it’s as hard a parmesan.
#4. Fried chicken | Winner Winner | Paddington
Fried chicken is all you’ll find on the menu at Winner Winner, whether you’re a leg, a breast or a whole damn chicken fan!
#5. Triple cheese beef cheek cheeseburger | The Bone Lorry | Various
Ready to get cheeky? The Bone Lorry have loaded a brioche bun with slow braised beef cheek marinated in stick liquor and topped it with bread ‘n’ butter pickles, pink slaw, BBQ mayo, and three cheese sauce.
#6. Dragon Egg | Saké | CBD
Available only for the summer with any set menu, this white chocolate egg sits atop a bed of apple crumble, crystalised ginger and raspberries filled with layers of sponge, almond crunch praline cream, and mandarin mousse, serve amidst a cloud of liquid nitrogen.
#7. Poptail | Soleil Pool Bar | South Brisbane
No longer will you struggle with the dilemma of choosing cocktail or frozen treat, because the poptail is here, with mojito or margarita popsicles in a boozy summer cocktail.
#8. Bacon croquettes | Pitch & Fork | Toowong
The breakfast bacon croquettes at this new café are bacon us crazy, deep fried to crispy perfection and perched on a bed of creamed corn.
#9. French toast special | Smug Fig | Woolloongabba
One week it might be the French toast with smoked maple butter, bacon crumb, vanilla ice cream and fried banana, another you’ll find raspberry French toast with vanilla parfait, chocolate, pistachio, banana and coconut raspberry dust. One thing’s for sure – it’s always tasty.
If the words ‘cheese board’ make you feel happier than ‘Christmas’, The Croft House is the place for you. Create your own charcuterie board from a large selection of hard and soft cheeses, spicy and flavoursome meats, chutneys, fruits and breads.
Better start eating – the best eats in Brisbane await!
