The Brisbane bucket list: 9 things to hunt down in September

  • Food & Booze
Oh sure, September is all about going green and all, but everything in moderation, right? We figure, if you combine a few of our top ten things to get on your fork this month into epic cheat meals, you can totally eat your way through the whole list and still be beach ready in few weeks time. Or maybe just start your diet in October. #1. Festival Flavours | Venues round town Brisbane Festival is here and while some might be heading for a show, we’re all about the edible art! We’re pretty keen for Next Door’s whiskey braised beef cheeks, but you can check out all the delicious deals on offer in September here. #2.Big Time | The Gresham | CBD One of our favourite Brisbane bars just got named Australia’s best! So we think you should celebrate with one of their rum, blackberry, lime and vanilla cocktails – or just a flight of whiskey. #3. Hotcakes | Fuel & Co | Nundah An enormous fluffy hotcake stuffed with blueberries and pepita seeds and topped with more berries and mascarpone is reason enough to hit the ‘burbs for brekky. #4. Breakfast Special | Press Club | Fortitude Valley No, Press Club isn’t opening for breakfast, but they are shaking up one epic cocktail, a mix of rum, butterscotch schnapps, citrus, apricot chilli jam (yep) and beer, served up smoking with a chilli sugar crustini! brisbane bucket list bella bbq#5. Build-a-burger | Bella BBQ | Food truck If you didn’t think Bella BBQ’s burgers were hefty enough before, now you can build your own. We’re thinking brisket with southern slaw AND mac ‘n’ cheese. #6. Bao buns | Bao Down Now | Fortitude Valley With chicken karaage, pork jowl and soft shell crab bao buns on offer at this new bar and eatery, it’s a good thing they’re open late so we can try them all! #7. The Drunken Pig | Wooden Horse | Clayfield Pork belly, bacon, pepperoni, bourbon BBQ sauce, mozzarella and dill pickle, all piled on a pizza. No, we are not sharing. #8. Nice cream | Charlies Fruit Market | Everton Park If you’ve decided to lay off the sweets, you’ll be thankful for this healthy, vegan ice cream, made of nothing but fruit and topped with raw treats! #9. Sailor Jerry peanut butter and jelly milkshake | Greaser | Fortitude Valley This is a milkshake on steroids, taken to the next level with a shot of rum! Best served with a pile of crinkle chips (for dipping). So who’s up for some extra gym sessions this week? Words by Ranyhyn Akui
