The Brisbane bucket list: 10 things to hunt down in March

Anyone else out there getting a tad excited that winter – and it’s baggy jumpers – is on the way? We sure are – and not in the least because there’s a few too many epic desserts that we’ve taste tasted our way through for this month’s bucket list. Fairyfloss desserts? Ice cream scrolls?! Gramercy pop ups tempting us with brownie cookies stuffed with buttercream?!! All we can say is, if you didn’t have a sweet tooth before, you will after you eat your way through this list. #1. Breakfast board | Kith ‘n’ Chow | Mt Gravatt If this shared breakfast board piled with eggs, bacon, haloumi, smoked salmon, sourdough, granola and yoghurt doesn’t have you saying ‘Holy fork!,’ we don’t know what will. Word of warning: make a booking! #2.  Ice cream scrolls | The Doughnut Bar | CBD Forever making our eyes (and waistlines) bulge with their latest creations, The Doughnut Bar’s latest dessert with rolled ice cream piled with all manner of sweet goodness has to be eaten to be believed! #3. Halva with ice cream and fairy floss | Atalanta Bar and Greek | Hamilton You might go for the mezze, or maybe even the cocktails – but we’re loving new Atalanta for their epic dessert menu. #4. Bakehouse by Gramercy | Pop up store | Fortitude Valley Stuffed doughnuts, cruffins, brownie cookies with buttercream and oh so much more – this pop up shop is all our dessert dreams come true! #5. Gluten free waffles | Nodo Donuts | Newstead Yep, you read right – Nodo Donuts are now doing gluten free waffles topped with dairy free nice cream, meringue and all sorts of goodness on weekends! #6. Crispy potato skins | Ginger & Green | South Brisbane If crispy potato skins loaded with shredded beef, bacon jam, creamy gorgonzola, crisp prosciutto and fried eggs doesn’t sound like your ultimate breakfast, we don’t know if we can be friends anymore. #7. Huelva Cooler | The Apo | Fortitude Valley The cocktails at the Valley’s classy new bar are as creative as the food is, and this manzanilla, strawberry, maraschino, citrus, soda, basil and cucumber is as flirty as they get. #8. Chili Cook-Off | March 20 | Kettle & Tin | Paddington It’s back! The spiciest event of the year is returning, and if you want the chance to vote for Brisbane’s best chili, you better be there. #9. Pulled pork benny | Lotus Café | Springfield Everything, from the fluffy sourdough and soft poached eggs to the smoky pulled pork and house made hollandaise, on this plate will have you drooling. #10. Ricotta hotcakes | Seven South | Yeronga Whether you can finish your plate is another matter, but you’ll be a convert to the sweet breakfast camp after a bite of this bright, fluffy hotcake!
