The Brisbane bucket list: 10 things to get on your fork in February

You made it to the end of January without one mouthful of chocolate passing your lips (ok, so you had a few, but still) – how to celebrate? By going out and ticking every delicious thing off this month’s bucket list of course! We spent our January eating our way through Brisbane so you didn’t have to, but now it’s time to enjoy our tastiest finds. #1. Ice cream sandwich | Mister Fitz | Fortitude Valley & South Bank Our relationship with the doughnut is officially over – we’re all about ice cream sandwiches now, and Mister Fitz is here to keep us all loved up on their design-your-own creations. #2. Corn and cheddar hush puppies | Republic Coffee Co | East Brisbane What are hush puppies? There’s only one way to find out – go and sample the cheesy things at East Brisbane’s newest café! #3. Chocolate mousse | Paddington Deli | Paddington You will be licking the glass clean. The secret ingredient to this rich dessert is apparently whisky, and we’re addicted. #4. Cold press espresso martini | Atticus Finch | Paddington Yeah that’s right, Atticus Finch has a booze license! And they’re celebrating the way they should – with sweet espresso martinis every Saturday and Sunday night. sake japanese restaurant brisbane feature#5. Grilled eggplant skewers | Saké | CBD How does Saké make eggplant taste so damn good? We need to know – perhaps we’ll have to go and test their robata grill skewers a little bit more! #6. Sweet potato and bacon hash | The Corner Store Café | Toowong Give the waffles a miss for once and try this scrumptious pile of sweet potato, bacon chunks, pesto aioli, pine nuts and parmesan, all topped off with poached eggs. #7. Vegan sundae | Skull It | Fortitude Valley It may be free of dairy and processed sugar, but you’ll still feel like you’re indulging with this scoop-worthy cup of coconut ice cream, chocolate sauce and vegan goodies! #8. Loaded blue cheese fries | Loco’s Kitchen & Bar | Bowen Hills There won’t be one chip left out of this pile of crispy chips, BBQ pulled pork and blue cheese! #9. Lobster dinner | Gambaro | Paddington If you’ve never had the chance to sample Gambaro’s lobster, nows the time to try it, with four incredible dishes on their menu for $55.50 until the end of February between Monday-Friday. We’re not squidding – go! #10. Breakfast pizza | Benzina | Kenmore Yasss! Finally we can eat pizza for breakfast and not even get judged doing it! Eggs, prosciutto, mozzarella, spinach and sauce on a crisp base – but they had us at pizza. Now excuse us while we start ‘researching’ for March. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
