The Brisbane bucket list: 10 feeds to hunt down in June

You know those dishes that just make you moan a little? The ones that have you reaching for another serve before you’ve even finished your mouthful, because you just don’t want it to end? Well that’s what this month’s bucket list dishes are all about. We may have drooled while eating them – you have been warned. #1. Yum Cha | Sichuan Bang Bang | Paddington $32 for all the dumplings, wontons and Singapore noodles we can eat? Yes please! With plenty more Asian eats besides on the menu for these weekend feasts, you’ll be rolling down Paddington’s hills in no time. #2. Jam Doughnuts | Delfina’s Bistro | Fortitude Valley No this isn’t a snack – it’s breakfast. 3 gloriously deep-fried balls of doughnut ice cream tossed in cinnamon sugar with a hot jam injection. Get. In. My. Belly. #3. Straight to the Thighs | Lucid Sweets | Geebung No we’re not taking a dig at your sweets habit, we’re talking about Lucid Sweets’ pile of chocolate meringue kisses with Nutella, choc covered honeycomb, cream and banana. #4. Crispy pigs tails | Catchment Brewing Co. | West End Ignore the word ‘tail’ and just imagine a pile of crispy, fatty, bacon-like strips of saliva-inducing pork and you’ll be racing to Catchment in no time. #5. Karaage sweetbreads | Botero | CBD If you’ve never tried sweetbreads, let these be your first. With a crispy battered exterior and Japanese mayo for dipping, they’ll pop your sweetbread cherry in style. #6. Soy glazed pork belly | Banter Coffee House | Manly If you thought you’d had pork belly every which way, think again. This plate of crispy pork belly, poached eggs and fried bread (fried!) is one of a kind! #7. Tamarind snapper | Mons Ban Sabai | Camp Hill Who knew fish could taste this good? We don’t know what kind of magic is going on in the kitchen to get such a sweet, saucy, crunchy and moreish dish, but we like it. #8. Elyxpresso Martini | Enigma Underground | Cloudland | Fortitude Valley This is no ordinary espresso martini – this is an espresso martini made with the smooth and luxurious Absolut Elyx. It’s only popping up at Enigma Underground for a limited time, so don’t put it off. #9. Cheesiness | Fromage the Cow | Milton Look, the entire menu is dedicated to cheese – what’s not to love? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a plate of cheese, you’ll have a gouda time here. #10. Sunday Belly | Blind Tiger Bar | Bulimba Is it really any surprise that two espresso martinis made it onto the list this month? Especially when Blind Tiger’s involves salted caramel vodka and vintage couches. Don’t wear a white shirt. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
