breakfasts on the Gold Coast

We give you full permission to skip breakfast before you leave the house (but just this once!). Metabolic health matters!

The Coast’s breakfast scene is bacon a comeback, so feast your eyes on our list of where to go, but don’t blame us if you can’t pick just one!

Paddock Bakery and The Loft | Burleigh

If you haven’t heard about, salivated over on Instagram or been to Paddock Bakery, we say this with love – have you been living under a rock?! Paddock has definitely made its mark on the Coast and what’s even more exciting, it now has a dedicated function and event space which you have to see to believe. Their extensive breakfast menu combined with their delectable baked goods will ensure you leave with full tummies and full hearts. Amongst their specialities are Rustic Avo, their infamous Dippy Eggs and Woodfired Muesli. Equally grammable as they are delicious, it’s probably best to go in a group so you can co-ordinate who is ordering what and taste-test accordingly (with or without permission). While we can promise you delicious food and coffee, we can’t promise your friends will want to dine with you again (but hey, food over friends right?).

Social Brew | Burleigh & Paradise Point

Burleigh + Breakfast + Beach within walking distance – our three favourite B’s. They also have an abundance of pretty hanging plants, so what more could you ask for? A wholesome, fresh new menu has tongues wagging and we are just too keen! From a big breakfast to sautéed mushrooms and brewed super greens to breakfast burgers, they’ve even thrown in a char(coal) smoothie bowl for those who are more gains than grease inclined. All in all, the perfect stop-off post-dip.

Elk Espresso | Broadbeach

Another hotspot for locals of and visitors to the Coast, Elk has something for everyone. Their seasonal menu means that they’re constantly churning out the best food available. Among our favourites are the Iced Vovo waffles (for the sweet tooth), fried chicken Benedict with dreamy chipotle hollandaise (for something a bit heartier) and their heart-warming brekkie burger. Whether you’re out for Sunday brunch or nursing a nasty hangover, Elk will provide all you need to start your day off right.

Goji Granola Bar | Clear Island Waters

Famous for their crunchy, homemade, vegan granola and ALL DAY breakfast (yes, they serve until 4pm!), Goji has really got it going food-wise. If you’re a granola nut, be sure to build your own Coco Soft granola bowl or smoothie bowl. If savoury is more your style, why not try out their salmon Benedict, French toast burger (oui oui to that!) or their classic egg and bacon roll. Whatever your tastes, we can guarantee a return trip!

Burleigh Social | Burleigh

Just a stone’s throw from Paddock Bakery, Burleigh Social provides some healthy competition for their neighbours. Their menu is simple and classic, but chock-full of flavour. Our picks? Their mushroom bruschetta is something to marvel at, their haloumi bagel has us weak at the knees. For those who don’t mind getting a little messy in the name of food, we highly recommend the brekky burrito.

BamBam Bakehouse | Miami

Made famous by Matt Preston and Margot Robbie, BamBam’s bakery is second to none! Better still, they even have a pop-up stall at Tallebudgera Creek so for those keen on a pre- or post-dip brew or baked delight, you’re in luck! At their idyllic bakehouse, there are plenty of tasty treats on offer. Bam Bam benny, egg nasi, chilli crab omelette and a karaage chicken bowl are just some of the goods available until 2pm everyday. If you can’t make it in store, why not take advantage of their online ordering service for pastries to ensure you don’t miss out. Understandably when Matt Preston recommends you, things can get a little crazy, so don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Espresso Moto | Palm Beach

Palm Beach’s best-kept secret (which due to being so darn good is no longer really a secret) is a must-visit for those down the southern end of the Coast. Offering friendly service and classics such as eggs benny and bacon and egg rolls, they also have a range of specials to die for! Did we mention it also doubles as a motorcycle repair shop AND is pet-friendly? The food is just one of the reasons to pop in and visit this little gem.

BSKT | Nobby Beach

Just metres from beautiful Mermaid Beach, BSKT may be all about that healthfood life BUT it is also big on flavour! It also caters for Paleo, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and all you fussy eaters (you know who you are!). They are also the brainchild behind the vegan, gluten, soy and dairy-free CocoWhip which has been hailed as “the original healthy soft serve”. Why not embrace the taste of summer and health (if just for the morning) and see what all the fuss is about!

The Cardamon Pod | Southport

We’d like to bet there’s at least a 99% chance you’ve seen one of their healthy and colourful smoothie bowl creations sprawled across your ‘gram feed. If not, we suggest you fix this right now and go have a peek. On offer for breakfast (disclaimer: all meals are vegetarian) are a range of delectable foodie treats. For those with a sweet tooth, may we recommend the Numtella Pumpkin Protein Pancakes (made with their own healthy Nutella sauce) or the banana and walnut pancakes (equally as yum). For those more savoury-inclined, the Indian street food waffle, avo Benny and summer pod B.I.G brekky will be more your speed. #Whosaidvegetarianwasboring?

Commune | Burleigh

Local favourite Commune continues to please with its homely vibes (both in atmosphere and food). Delivering delicious and simple comfort food, these guys are all about flavour. Think eggs Benny, corn and coriander fritters, and cacao pancakes plus so much more! They also serve a mean cup of coffee, so a visit will set you off for an eggs-ellent start to your morning.
