Teneriffe’s favourite local public house

Hidden away in one of Teneriffe’s leafiest streets is a public house that’s a world away from the dimly lit suburban pubs you usually visit. Open, breezy and adorned in wicker chairs, bright yellow cushions and hanging greenery, Dalgety Public House is the epitome of Teneriffe style – a theme that carries right over to the drinks list and bar food menu. dalgety-new-farm-restaurants-2You’ll still find all the pub classics like juicy steaks, chicken parmigiana and battered fish and chips on the menu here, only leagues above in quality (and Instagramabilty) and listed alongside bar bites like crispy chicken ribs, soft shell fish tacos and pan seared scallops. The perfect spot for everything from Sunday rosé with the girls to Friday afternoon beers with boys and every date night in between, it’s a hidden gem that Teneriffe locals have been keeping to themselves – but we’re here to blow the secret. dalgety-new-farm-bars-2You can even take the whole family along for Sunday lunch or a lazy weeknight dinner – the kids menu of lamb pops and minute steak will satisfy the younger crowd while mum and dad can tuck into a full rack of lam with roasted pumpkin and baby beets. Of course, if it’s more a grown up dinner date you’re thinking, the shared food menu matches perfectly with the shared cocktail list – although you may not want to share a Hey Boo with hibiscus kombucha, gin, peach, mint and lime. dalgety-teneriffe-restaurants-3Like any good public house, Dalgety dishes up some seriously tasty deals from Monday to Friday, from barramundi and fries for $20 on a Monday to $15 chicken parmys on a Thursday, and Friday froths to kick off the weekend from 4pm. On Sundays, things get a little decadent, with live acoustic tunes, bottles of Mumm Champagne to pop for $60 and cheese and charcuterie boards to pair them with, all through the afternoon. Have we convinced you to make Dalgety Public House your new local? You’ll find them at 110 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe, open 7 days a week for lunch, dinner and drinks. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
