Where to sip this summer
Summer calls for spritzes, alcoholic slushies and cocktail steins.
Seasonal menus; one of summer's saving graces.
If you’re feeling frazzled, frizzy, or sunburnt, take solace with these zesty, refreshing, and enticing flavours on Brisbane’s new summer menus.
This inner-city institution has recently had a summer glow-up, and now comes with luxe black and gold finishes and the same share-style menu we’ve always loved. Cool down with a fancy prawn cocktail with horseradish mayo, Avruga caviar, and nori wafer, and fill up with charcoal wagyu with truffle corn and wasabi salad. Can’t decide? Rogue’s The Arc menu lives on, now christened The Feast. Plus, there’s a dedicated vegan menu for when you want to go fancy with plant-based pals.
Summer is by far the most Insta-worthy season, but Miss Bliss’ dishes always deliver! Enjoy a balanced brekky with the summer greens bowl of Koo Wee Rup asparagus with broccolini, harissa hummus, ancient grains, edamame, pickled zucchini, heirloom kale, egg, tamari almonds & herbs, or treat yo’ self while retaining ambitions of a summer bod with the Lamington pudding of strawberry and macadamia chia with shortbread crumble, roasted strawbs, corn flakes and dehydrated strawberries. Treat!
It’s not all pizzas and bistro faves (although, they’re bloody good) at Victoria Park Bistro – their newly installed grill is seeing the likes of grilled Atlantic salmon with steamed greens, tomato, and basil dressing or classic grilled chicken Caesar sals with baby gem, egg, lardons, croutons, and parmesan making it easy (and delicious) to keep your resolutions of healthy-ish eating. The brekky menu has some new additions, too, like the mixed greens bowl with beetroot hummus, poached eggs, and toasted mixed seeds – health!
Our Italian-style riverside fave always comes good with the seasonal menus, and summer 2020 is no exception! We’re sweating at the thought of the polpo alla griglia – warm octopus with new potato, Sunny Coast Lombardo peppers, and ajo nero, and the pan-friend market fish with asparagus, tarragon mayo, orange and almonds. Sounds like a spritz is in order!
Since big changes (like, the entire kitchen brigade and menu changes) at the start of the year, Beaux Rumble’s been serving up warm-weather wonders, like the sugar-cured salmon with radish, pea, whey (attn: gym junkies) and tapioca. Nothing says ‘summer’ like a barbie at the beach, though, so the barbecued pipis and clams with garlic shoots, chilli, sesame and beach leaves is the literal flavour of summer.
Summer in France? Don’t mind if we do! Stop by Lutèce for their classy AF French classics including Yamba jumbo prawn cutlets with sage wrapped in crispy pastry with green sauce each, steak tartare with all of the good stuff, and slow-roasted free-range duck a l’orange with asparagus, caramelised orange spices, and jus. Oui, oui, we’ll see you there.
Summer, ya stunner.
