It happens to the best of us: you get home from work, throw open the kitchen cupboard ready to get snackin’ and... nothing.

Fear not, for West Village’s newest contemporary food retail precinct, The Garden Pantry, has thrown open its doors! So what makes The Garden Pantry a summer must-visit?

Super fresh poké

Newstead staple Cheeky Poke Bar has set up southside-style at The Garden Pantry. Owned by West End locals Sam and Greg, Cheeky offers nutritious (and insta-worthy) poké bowls, as well as their unique take on tacos, swathed in crispy seaweed or a wonton wrapper. As part of the family behind Portside’s famous Fresh ’n’ Wild fish distributors, you’re guaranteed fresh, high-quality fish in every dish… the perfect summer meal exists, and it’s at Cheeky.

Al fresco everything

The laneway-style precinct, one of many to be introduced to the West Village site, runs alongside the lush Boundary Street lawn, The Common. This community parkland space features sculptural gardens, tall trees for shade, and sprawling lawns-perfect for catching the breeze in the warmer weather ahead! It doesn’t get much more summer than dining outdoors on a warm evening, so food outlets were selected to encourage people to take away and dine on The Common.

Best buns in town

Mr Bunz, the favourite lunch of many city workers, have brought their pillowy-soft bao across the river to treat Southsiders for the first time. Their Garden Pantry menu features their signature pan-Asian combos, as well as rotating specials and a sweet-and-savoury peanut butter and jelly bao! With owners Kev and Yuda’s combined experience in some of Queensland’s top restaurants like e’cco, Urbane, and Moda, Mr Bunz is a big win for West End.

Italian alleyway vibes

Rounding out the trio of fab food offerings in The Garden Pantry is pizza and pasta maestros Salt Meats Cheese. Diners can antipasto- I mean anticipate- bruschetta with crumbled feta for breakfast, wood-fired pizzas for lunch in the breezy laneway, and their signature cheese wheel-tossed pasta for dinner! Early birds are in for a treat with an onsite coffee torrefazione, and for the serious foodies (or amateur pasta-lovers) there’s a cooking school with regular pizza and pasta classes!

With casual, quality dining options for round-the-clock, and plenty of items available to be taken away and enjoyed on The Common, The Garden Pantry and its delectable trio of eateries is set to be a summer foodie hotspot.
