Suburban foodies: Cleveland

The best eats are out east.

Charming, quaint, and coastal Cleveland sits 25km out of Brisbane’s CBD in the stunning city of Redlands. More than just a gateway to Straddie, Cleveland has become a day trip destination in its own right, particularly for those of us who want to escape the city.

With a rich history, delicious eats, and views to boot, we strongly suggest adding this bayside beauty to your hitlist…

GRAND VIEW HOTEL | 49 NORTH ST

Dating back to the 1850s, the heritage-listed Grand View Hotel is about as iconic as they come. Overlooking picturesque Moreton Bay, The Grandy is adored by locals and day trippers alike for its menu of classic pub eats, selection of craft brews, outdoor dining area, and beer garden. Choose to go with a classic chicken schnitty, perfectly cooked black Angus steak or cheesy pizza, or slurp up their signature Tasmanian smoked salmon linguine for a real treat!

THE LIGHTHOUSE RESTAURANT | 237 SHORE ST NORTH

Restaurant, cafe, and fish ‘n’ chippery in one, The Lighthouse is a one-stop shop for Cleveland’s best seafood. Get comfortable in the restaurant after sunset and you’ll be treated to a generous menu of seafood, with standouts like sand crab lasagne, pork belly with BBQ jumbo prawns, or the deluxe seafood platter of lobster, Moreton Bay bugs, crab, prawns, mussels, smoked salmon, and oysters.

LA BOUCHE | 2/71 SHORE ST WEST

Regarded as one of the south east’s best patisseries, La Bouche deserves a visit on your next Cleveland trip. You’ll want to get in nice and early–their breads and pastries tend to sell out quickly! I mean, it’s no surprise when you’re baking up crusty fig and fennel seed sourdough, cruffins, Wagyu sausage rolls, and more!

MAMMA MIA TRATTORIA PIZZERIA | 10/152 SHORE ST

Here we go again! We’re here to spread the good word of Mamma Mia Trattoria Pizzeria–Cleveland’s authentic Italian eatery. Serving up pasta, pizza, and homey mains, this local fave is a go-to for special occasions, or just Friday night takeaway! Our recommendation? The Mamma Mia pizza, complete with fior di latte, Napoletana sauce, prawns, Moreton Bay crab meat, and pesto.

THE COURTHOUSE RESTAURANT | PAXTON ST

The Courthouse is not only an award-winning restaurant, it’s also a stunning wedding and function space. An affordable fine diner on the bay, The Courthouse specialises in modern Australian cuisine with an emphasis on Queensland seafood.

QUYSINE RESTAURANT | /1/18-24 MIDDLE ST

Treat yourself to a taste of Spain without leaving the Redlands at Quysine Restaurant. With three sprawling dining areas including an alfresco area surrounded by grapevines, Quysine offers a relaxing atmosphere to sit back and enjoy your tapas in! Load your table with chorizo empanadas, smoked pork croquettes, patatas bravas, and a pitcher of sangria, and don’t forget to finish with a plate of churros.

So, who’s the unlucky designated driver?
