Not just a giant shopping centre, the great north is creating a reputation for itself as a new foodie hub.

Step away from the food court – from Japanese to Spanish, health food to hamburgers, Bavarian to bars – Chermside has found her stride.

Bin 931 | Westfield Chermside, Gympie Rd

Bin 931 is a dream for anyone who regularly fights with their partner on where to eat. Italian? Asian fusion? Tapas? They’ve got it all. Choose from small share plates like prawn stuffed zucchini flowers with jalapeno dipping sauce, kaarage bao buns or sticky soy pork belly, as well as antipasto boards with cured meats, cheese and pickles. Don’t like to share? Try out one of the main meals like the braised beef cheek over gnocchi or crispy skin salmon fillet. A meal without wine is just breakfast, so make sure you wash down all that deliciousness with a signature cocktail or a wine from their extensive list on an iPad.

Kamikaze Kitchen | Westfield Chermside

With over 10 years experience in food flinging, Kamikaze Teppanyaki & Bar is not your usual teppanyaki restaurant.  Stay local with the Kamikaze QLD supreme set with sirloin steak and a choice of seafood – or cross Bass Strait and keep it fresh with prawn, scallops and salmon. Teppanyak-yay! As well as firing up the hot plate Kamikaze have a large list of traditional starters including tempura and sashimi. Oishii! kamikaze

Hermosa | Westfield Chermside

Hermosa is Spanish for beautiful, inside and out, and one look at the menu will have you understanding why. Their specialty is serving up honest Spanish food with bold flavours and an Australian twist – with an emphasis on share plates. Choose from Spanish classics like seafood paella, mouth-watering slow cooked lamb shoulder and whole roasted and boned chicken. We recommend trying one of their sangria options! hermosa

Sasquatch | 763 Gympie Rd

Urban bar/cafes are the new black, and Chermside certainly wasn’t going to miss out. Enter Sasquatch, much prettier than the name might suggest, and a whole lot of fun. Start your day off with a Cleanskin Coffee and a cheeky jaffle, or settle in for an evening of chargrilled meat share plates and craft beer. The bar has eight rotating beers on tap to accompany the 20 varieties chilling in the fridge, as well as a wide range of spirits. They even have desserts like waffle cone sundaes – proving that Sasquatch is nothing to be afraid of.

The Bavarian | Westfield Chermside

More about beer than sangria? It’s not a visit to Chermside without checking out The Bavarian. The Bavarian Bier Café’s little brother has come of age and he’s making up for lost time with all the beers you know and love – and some extra just for fun. Imported, home-brewed, craft and flavoured – if you can bottle it, you can drink it at The Bavarian. Baby bro features classics like schnitzel, ribs and wings – but for the true experience we can’t go past the sausage or schnitzel tasting plates. We schnit you not!

Motto Motto | Westfield Chermside

Motto Motto is Japanese for more, more and that’s exactly what we’re asking for! With menu items like poke bowls, curry, rolls and bento sets – this is fast, healthy Japanese – just not as you know it. Choose from classics like wagyu beef, soft shell crab and chicken karaage in your curry, roll or rice bowl. Got a sumo appetite? Upgrade to a set and tuck into some of the delicious sides on offer. It wouldn’t be a Japanese feast without Asahi, and they’ve got two on tap. Kampai! motto motto

Betty’s Burger | Westfield Chermside

We don’t know exactly who Betty is, but if we met her we would marry her IMMEDIATELY because her food is life changing. With burgers like crispy chicken with special sauce, slow cooked pork belly and a mushroom burger that will have even the most dedicated carnivores wanting to have a bite – Betty is killing it. Pair your burger with French fries and onion rings and wash it down a chocolate peanut butter thick shake. Forget about diabetes and really embrace your food coma by smashing through a hot fudge doughnut concrete – custard ice-cream with a Krispy Kreme doughnut, hot fudge sauce and hazelnut crumble. Heavy breathing.

Coco Bliss | Westfield Chermside

Whether you’re a bona fide #fitspo or you just ate too many chips last night (guilty), Coco Bliss is the health injection you need. With 9 different superfood bowls to choose from, including the Bounty Bowl, Choc Peanut Butter Protein Bowl and the classic Original Acai bowl – you’ll be feeling healthier in no time. Can’t call it breakfast without carbs? Try some of their toast toppers, including avocado, sautéed mushrooms and hummus, you’ll be feeling on top of the world.

So next time you’re considering getting Maccas from the food court, think again. There’s a whole world out there.
