Secret dinner sensation Diner en Blanc

  • Food & Booze
Usually, none of the G&G team would consider wearing white to dinner (in case of crumbs, spillages, dribbling – things just get messy), but when Diner en Blanc rolls around we’re ready to throw rules out the window and bleach our best white suit. Taking over a public place near you on October 11, the all white dinner is set to be everything we love in a food event, spontaneous, Parisian elegant and a little bit magical. The annual event is a global sensation with chic pop-up picnics occurring in 40 cities around the world, including Paris, New York and Singapore. Attendees dress all in white and head to a central location on the day, from where they are taken to a secret location decked out in white tables, chairs, fine china and twinkling lights to wine and dine the night away. Afterwards, everyone and everything disappears into the dark, leaving no sign of the revelry. The event can be BYO eats if you’re the picky type, but there will also be catering available in the from of gourmet picnic hampers from our friends at Dalton Hospitality (of USA BBQ and Bourbon Bar fame). Packed for two people, there’s a two options, one for the slightly hungry and one for the really hungry, both filled with goodies like French baguette with Pepe Saya butter, local Australian cheeses and charcuterie and a delicious Valrhona chocolate pot with strawberries and bikkies for dessert. Also available for pre-purchase is a selection of wines from Clovely Estate, an award winning Queensland winery. Whichever of their amazing vintages you go for, we suggest choosing a white. Sound like an event worth risking your best white top for? Don’t get excited yet, this is a super exclusive and highly sought after event, so you’ll have to register for the waiting list first. Tickets go on sale today so don’t delay! Champagne won’t show on white, right? Words by Ranyhyn Akui
