It is a well-known and widely proven scientific fact that as the weather grows cooler, our desire for comfort food heightens. Salads make way for salumi, ceviche bows out in favour of caccitori. And paleo? Your days are numbered friend: pasta is making a comeback in a big way.

Luckily for our growling tums, our wonderful second family at Ristorante La Famiglia (seriously, we have the adoption papers drawn up) have announced the new autumn/winter menu, just in time for our carb crisis.

And it brings all our favourite Pugliese flavours to centre stage, from entrees to desserts (and wine!).

Give peas a chance with traditional risotto balls filled with peas and pancetta, dig into layered eggplant parmigiana, or up your iron intake with polpette sfiziose – meatballs with Napoli, parmesan and fresh basil.

Don’t release your fork just yet! Our food odyssey is just beginning, so we hope you didn’t have lunch today. Chow down on rigatoni with slow cooked beef and pork ragu or get your daily veggie intake with orecchiette con broccoli and salsiccia.

Need some pork on your fork? Get ready to roll because la porchetta is calling your name: oven roasted, stuffed pork belly with polenta and homemade jus…. Mamma Mia. And if your hunger is REALLY at steak, there’s a chargrilled sirloin with seasonal roasted veg calling your name.

At this point it’s completely acceptable to pop a button or loosen that belt, it’s basically a compliment to the chef – and it would be rude to refuse dessert, right? If nothing than for politeness, you HAVE to order the dessert plate. A daily selection of goodies like cannoli, bombolini, tiramisu, ricotta cheesecake and pana cotta……why pick just one when you could have them all? The menu suggests you share, but we both know we’re far too gluttonous for that kind of socialist behaviour, so guard it against your guests and gorge yourself.

And in news you might gnocchi believethe restaurant’s famous weekly gnocchi night has now expanded to Tuesday and Wednesday evenings!

Come home to Ristorante La Famiglia and give Nonna a kiss, we guarantee you’re going to fall in love with this new menu!

Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
