Queensland Beer Week brews up a week of events

  • Food & Booze
We’ve been bottling up our love of beer for this event. We’ve been waiting patiently and calmly to twist open our lids, to crack our cans, and to pour from our pitchers. We’re ready for a week of food, fun, and of course, beer. The annual event will once again be celebrated all over Brisbane to honour the craft beers made locally in the beautiful sunshine state, with a week filled with events that you can hop on over to. The week will kick off on December 3 with a VIP opening party at Boggo Road Gaol. Following a ghost tour that will make you jump, shiver and shake, what better way to calm those nerves than with a cold beer? As you walk through the four areas of the gaol, be treated to a different craft beer at each location and plenty of canapés. Just make sure to take some ‘pitchers’ of the historical site. At the end of the night, you’ll even get a souvenir to take home – your very own gaol key. Tickets can be purchased here and are selling fast, so you better not brew over it. But don’t worry, that’s not ale the events during this week. For evenings filled with beer, food, music and good company, The Defiant Duck and Putia Pure Food Kitchen are the places to be. The Defiant Duck will be serving up their delicious food with the Cricketers Arms Beer, while Putia Pure Food Kitchen will be pairing up with local brewery All Inn Brewing Co. for a night of boutique beer and flavoursome food. There’s plenty more activities running throughout the week with brewery tours available, the chance to pour your own beer, and an intensive brewing class. For those stuck at work, tell them you wish they were beer. The week will conclude with Brews, BBQ and Beats – a beer-tastic closing party held all along the Riverside Precinct. Four restaurants, including the Pig ‘N’ Whistle, Friday’s, Navala Churascaria and Blackbird Bar & Grill will open their doors and offer a selection of craft beers, food and music. The Queensland Beer Festival is coming and it’s time to get juggy with it! To find out more about the events so you can tap that, click here. Words by Kate Stevens
