Perfecting the Bellini
Is there anything better than a boozy brunch?
The Bellini. So simple, but so outrageously delicious.
A sweet, refreshing sip alongside breaky, the Bellini is a favourite among us all – and we’re here to show you how to mix the perfect one.
LET’S TALK PEACHES
It’s the biggest question surrounding Bellinis… Peach purée or peach nectar? We are firmly on the side of purée. It’s yummier, fresher, and far more traditional – but sometimes nectar (or peach juice) is all you can get your hands on, and that’s still tasty. If you’re shopping around, there are some great store-bought purées and Bellini mixes out there, or keep reading for our simple peach purée recipe.
Traditionally, white peaches are used in a Bellini. White peaches are in abundance in Italy, where the recipe originated, but yellow peaches are more often used down here in Aus. Peaking mid-summer, there is nothing better than a ripe yellow peach blitzed up to create a vibrant yellow Bellini!
To make a really simple peach purée, grab four ripe peaches, peel ‘em, slice ‘em in half, and remove the pits. Place the halved peaches in a blender and blitz until completely smooth. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before adding to prosecco.
Other purée recipes suggest adding a simple sugar syrup, but your peaches should be sweet enough on their own! We do recommend a nice squeeze of lemon if you’re so inclined.
IT’S PROSECCO TIME
Oh boy, have we got something for you.
Recently, we teamed up with locally-owned and operated bottle shops Victoria & Montague, Vulture & Grey and SW1 to offer a range of hand-selected six-packs of some delicious wines, beers, and cocktail kits. Designed to keep Brisbanites in good spirits (pun intended) during this strange time, Once Upon A Bottle is all about ensuring you can sip easy from the comfort of your home.
Once Upon A Bottle supports the little guys, delivers straight to your door for free, and just so happens to have an amazing sparkling pack. It’s almost as though they knew we had hit the boozy brunch stage of Iso…
The sparkling pack features six equally amazing drops including a bottle of Villa Sandi ‘il Fresco’ Prosecco – which has Bellini written all over it.
MIX IT ALL TOGETHER
Two parts prosecco to one part peach purée. That’s it! Garnish with extra peach slices, give it a good mix right before serving, and enjoy that bad boy.
