Organic dining at its best

Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of West End, Mondo Organics invites customers to enjoy a ‘real food’ experience, with an organic menu that boasts only the highest quality ingredients. Having discovered that Mondo is Australia’s first fully licensed organic restaurant, we were excited to sample their new winter menu, which can easily be described in two words… simply delicious! We started our feast with the ricotta and goat cheese spelt tortellini and the Rannock Farm quail with honeyed whole spelt, parsnip puree and crispy pancetta. The stand out for me was the pan-fried wahoo fish fillet with Jerusalem artichoke, grilled fennel and beetroot vierge, although the melt-in-your-mouth slow braised beef brisket was a close second. Upon the recommendation of co-owner and acclaimed chef Brenda Fawdon, we knew we were in for a treat when we ordered the chocolate pudding with matcha green tea ice cream and ginger cream. Now chocolate lovers beware… this decadent dessert is dangerously addictive! And because one dessert is never enough, we also inhaled the winter fruit tarte tatin – perfectly crisp, with a side of rich vanilla bean ice cream. Their new winter menu will have you spoilt for choice, including an option of shared long plates, with three courses for $60 per person or $90 including wine (yes please!). Mondo Organics not only boasts an impressive organic menu, but also a catering business and cooking school for the budding master chef or home cook looking to perfect their culinary skills. Whether you’re health conscious, or (like us) just hangry, Mondo will not disappoint. ‘Eat Mondo. Feel Good’. Amen! Words by Rachel Lees.
