Oodles of noodles! - Brisbane's best noodles

  • Food & Booze
Fat Noodle | Brisbane CBD The name says it all – this place is all about noodles and boy is it a hard decision to choose just one dish! We highly recommend going with a group so you can try everything from noodle soups like the seafood loaded Singapore laksa or roasted duck egg noodles with tamarind sauce, to wok tossed beer battered barramundi with glass noodles and wasabi aioli. Famed chef and owner, Luke Nguyen, makes sure all the basics are covered too, with his signature twenty hour slow cooked Angus beef pho noodles, mee goreng and chicken pad Thai. It’s a popular choice, especially for late night comfort food when you’ve lost your life savings in the casino next door. Trang Restaurant | West End It’s no secret we are always down for a bargain, and Trang is at the top of our list right before pay day. Famed in Brisbane for its delicious rare beef pho noodle soup, you could easily share this huge serving for less than $12. Or maybe splash out and order a second one (noodle food baby anyone?) like the spicy beef and pork rice vermicelli noodle soup. Little Singapore | Brisbane CBD Hidden down a laneway off Queen Street, Little Singapore is a great option for a work day lunch, especially if you’re a fan of Malaysian favourite, Char Kway Teow. The bowl of rice noodles, prawns, oysters, chicken, bean sprouts and chillies is the perfect midday pick-me-up for only $12.50. Be quick to grab a seat though, this place fills up fast! Wagaya | Fortitude Valley Home of electronic ordering and efficient service, it’s no wonder Wagaya is fully booked most nights of the week. With an emphasis on Japanese food there’s plenty to choose from, like grilled meats, gyoza and, of course, noodles. With a new menu coming soon to the Brisbane venue, there’ll be various types of ramen, noodle stir fries and noodle hot pots. Make sure you call ahead to secure a table, and once you’re there, let the Asahi flow! Green Papaya | Woolloongabba This Brissie icon has just had a menu change! Better grab your besties and book a table for dinner so you can try the duck noodle soup – sweet potato noodles, crispy duck, beef balls and vegetables – or the best pad Thai on the south side. We might just be making excuses to try the new brownies Tim Tam sundae with chocolate brownie and whipped cream…but we reckon you’ll forgive us! Words by Emily Neil
