One of our fave north side cafes is now doing dinner!

There’s nothing we love more than finding a cute Brisbane café in the ‘burbs that doesn’t just do a scrumptious Sunday breakfast, but also dishes up tasty feeds for dinner that are close to home on a Friday and Saturday night. So when we heard that Willow & Spoon, one of our fave north side brunch spots, would be opening nights for tapas and BYO brews on the weekends, there may have been a few squeals. After undergoing a bit of a makeover, the Wilston café has a fresh new look to go with their tasty new menu, with an airy feel now welcoming you inside. With comfy booths inside the cottage-style venue, high tables on the breezy footpath outside and plenty of space to sit and relax on the patio out the back, you’ll al-ways be able to find somewhere to sit your crew. Head in on Friday and Saturday evenings from February 5th onwards and you’ll find a menu of drool worthy share plates, with bites like house made focaccia, beetroot arancini and cheesy croquettas. More substantial plates include slow cooked beef cheek ragu with butternut puree and pistachio crusted red emperor if you’re feeling extra hungry. With dishes like this, you won’t want to grab just any old bottle of wine from the cupboard to pair with them, you’ll want to hunt down something with a bit of pizzazz! willow and spoon brisbane cafes 2 It’s not just the weekend tapas menu that’s new, there’s also a delicious new breakfast and lunch menu on offer for when you wake up with a sore head after all the wine on Saturday morning. Sweet tooths can get their fix with brioche French toast piled with strawberry coulis and mascarpone, while those undecided as to whether they feel like breakfast or lunch can tuck into the Voodoo Chicken – Southern fried chicken with spicy beans, salsa and poached eggs. For lunch, you can wrap your hands around pulled pork or fried chicken tacos, a prosciutto, pumpkin, feta and pine nut pizza or the juicy lamb burger with a side of chips. And for anyone who’s woken up post-midday with a serious bacon craving, don’t worry, Willow’s bacon and eggs with toasted sourdough stays on the menu all day. Hello 1pm bacon hit. As one of Brisbane’s most kid-friendly cafes, the new and improved Willow & Spoon of course still has a menu for the little ones, with Nutella pancakes or bacon and eggs for breakfast, or cheesy pizzas and crumbed calamari for dinner. Then they can enjoy the grassy outdoor area while you relax with a latte – possibly in bowl size. So if you’re ready to meet your new favourite spot for weekend hangs, morning or night, you’ll find Willow & Spoon at 190 Newmarket Road, Wilston – just look for the cottage with a fresh coat of paint.
